"Guys, let's stick to staying out of sight as much as possible." I whisper, feeling the presence of multiple people closing in on us.
"Mm. Okay. Well, we should get going." Killua replies, holding the trunk of the tree as me and Gon sat down, letting our legs swing. Climbing up here in its own way was a challenge, even if we're only half way there.
"Yep! Race you guys there!" Gon calls as he drops down, and me and Killua share a smirk.
"You're on." We whisper, dropping down in a flash and using the bushes and tall dry grass as our cover.
I feel Killua and Gon suddenly use Ren, and the presence of someone behind me. Instantly, I unsheath my katana and block a mallet.
The moon light is the only thing keeping me from using eye's of prey, helping me take in the attackers stature.
He's white, male, much taller then me, muscular....
I hold my ground, grunting as I tilt my blade to the side and let the mallet slide downward and flip back as he lifts it up again with a grunt.
His beard is braided to match his hair, a scar running down the middle from his scalp to his throat.
Ah. I remember him. I hope Gon and Killua are okay.
"State your name and reason for attack if you value your intestines." I glare, speaking as if I was addressing a crowd. In a way, I somewhat was. The presence of our stalkers had paused. Almost as if, holding their breath. I grimance in disgust at how they suddenly think they can take me on.
"Aye, no need to get so fickle yet...I haven' even bust'd ya brains out."
"Hm. I think you're in need of one, sure, but you scum are unworthy of mine. Especially one out for revenge." I laugh. Damn, I haven't even really done anything and I'm already slipping. Maybe its the fact that that scar is my work?
He growls at my comment, charging at me. How noisy. How worthless. He smells like sweat and tobacco.
I side step, zipping behind him with my katana poking between the disks of his spine. He could never walk again.
"Seven heavenly virtues: Prudence." I'm forced to move last second, narrowly being missed by his mallet once again as he twists around to face me.
He's speaking. I don't want to listen to raspy rage because he was too weak. He still is.
"You're so blinded by rage and hate that you're even weaker then before." I grumble, diving under his arm and running forward, using the wall as a spring board.
I twist around and land on his shoulders, stabbing the katana deep into his hand as he reaches up to grab me. He instantly pulls away, the blade scraping against bone and ripping free between fingers.
The smell. The color. The shine.
Bloodbloodbloodblood-"You've made, a horrible mistake...by let-letting, letting yourself....you. You hurt. Get hurt. " I laugh, control slipping through my fingers as I feel my lips twitch into an odd smile.
I simply step off of him as he cradles his hand, unsheathing my second katana. As I slide down, facing his back, the blades make a trail of open flesh on either side, like zippers.
An agonized scream fills the air, the birds rushing out of their homes in the trees. Startled.
And then I see them. Gon. Killua. They look worried. They're waiting. It wouldn't be a fair race. They don't even have scratches.
I can't let them see me do these things. I somehow feel like they shouldn't be allowed to see something so cruel happen. Gon might even stop me. Hell, they both will.
I feel my senses and control come back to me. I sheath my katana's and barely notice how much blood I have on me, and that the man that attacked me is knocked out cold.
Red butterflies slowly start to swarm over me and the man as Killua and Gon jump down.
"Sienna..."
Gon sounds sad. I'm confused.
"Yo. Can you even hear us?" Killua sounds cautious. Why was I able to calm down, so easily?
I stare at the mallet. It left a dent in the rock. Its just lodged there, but I still manage to pull it out after hardening my blood in my arms. I drag it out in the open with a grunt.
"Y-yea. I can-" I bring one foot back, throwing my weight forward and sending the mallet flying into the night.
"-hear you just fine." I fall to my knees. It hurts inside, I somehow feel bad. I never feel bad.
I try to stand, to use a katana to balance myself, but I didn't lock it, and so I stare at the red blade before me. I look up at the moon and down at the cliff.
They walk up to me, and I feel my mouth go dry.
"The reason we took the job was because we wanted to help you." Gon said, sitting next to me. He had a somewhat sad smile, one as if he was waiting to go somewhere and suddenly told he can't.
"Well, I don't think you need help. You just need some control." Killua shrugs, and I nod.
"Its okay! We'll just have to keep you company and make sure you don't slip up. Right, Killua? You gotta know at least a few tricks to that kind of stuff."
"Well...somewhat... Wait a minute! There you go dragging me into your weird plans!"
"W-wait, what are you guys saying?"
I manage to stop their fight before it starts, and they turn to me. Killua's frown grows.
"...Tch. We're saying we'll help you." Killua mumbles, crossing his arms and averting his eyes. I watch with a small smile as a blush creeps onto his face, and both me and Gon burst out laughing.
"H-hey! Shut up!"
