The Outsiders one shots (cause why not)

Dallas Winston rant

as you guys know, the big 4 of the Outsiders are Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally, and Cherry. you don't have to feel this way, but I think the movie BUTCHERED Dallas Winston. Don't kill me just yet, let me explain!

Reason 1: appearance.

in one day of 8th grade, I found like a lot of guys who look like Dally. The real one. ONE DAY. And when I say alot, I mean like, there are multiple in each of my classes. how hard could it have been to find a blond haired blue eyed teenage guy in 1980s CALIFORNIA. And even if they couldn't find someone with that exact combination of features who was an actor or wanted to be one, they could've temporarily dyed the hair of the actor or at least given them a wig. One thing about badass blonds, is the BLOND part. It's not 'badass brunette.' It's badass BLOND. And if I could explain Dallas Winston in two words, it would be BADASS BLOND. This is the original Annabeth Chase situation. If you don't know what that is, its okay. Basically she was blonde in the book series she's in, then the movies went and made her a brunette. Why does no one care that Dally is supposed to be a fucking BLOND!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? Yes. I agree. Matt Dillon was extremely hot back then. But that doesn't make him Dallas Winston. I know they couldn't exactly change the actor's features, but they couldn't have possibly found an actor who looked LESS like Dally.

reason 2: his death scene.

the movie just generally screwed this scene up big time. In the book, it says 'Dally was dead before he hit the ground.' But the movie made him crawl across the pavement— which looked like something straight out of a horror movie— and pointlessly mutter Pony's name. Plus, there was no evidence that any bullets even hit him. They made Johnny look like he really got burned, the least they could've done is make Dally look like he'd really been shot. Plus, his shirt opened for no reason whatsoever except the movie trying to make a dead 17 year old look sexy. It's like, they put so much effort into Johnny's death, and even Bob's, but when they got to Dally's death, they were all like, "fuck it. Let's just make his death look like something you could see in 7th grade theater class."

last, reason 3: he seemed kinda gay

I'm not saying this is a bad thing. In fact, it would mean my OTP could've been real. It would have added to everything. But unfortunately, Dally's not gay. 😒 What I'm saying, is that they made a straight character seem really gay, which is pointless and takes away. When he said it was okay that Sylvia cheated on him and they broke up, he actually kinda looked relieved. And I know I'm not the only now who saw that. At the movies, it was like he was trying to prove something. And it's kinda obvious that he could get a girl who'd fuck him 24/7 without being dirty. Just sayin. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just pointless.

just to be clear, I think that Matt Dillon was one of the BEST actors in the Outsiders. I just find that the movie kinda made him a sloppy character.
