‎ AS HER MOTHER WAS MAKING EGG ROLLS, y/n was sitting on one of the chairs, cutting some vegetables on the wooden board. her hands carefully pressed the knife down to chop the tomatoes before putting them inside the large bowl along with the other chopped vegetables. the smell of the fried chicken filled her nose and a satisfied hum left her lips in result. she couldn't wait for lunch time to arrive so that she could devour every single plate of her mother's mouth watering cooking. her eyes locked with the other heavenly food that was waiting to be served on the table; from the perfectly shaped onigiri to the savoury, lemon udon.

the akaashis don't usually eat much during the day, they mostly go with a simple bowl of rice and any kind of a side dish. however, today was not like any other. there was a special guest that would be coming to have lunch with them, and knowing this person, he has probably the biggest appetite. akaashi agreed once his mother suggested inviting bokuto over for lunch, but his sister had a hard time accepting it, especially that akaashi was good at reading people and their emotions, and she felt like he already came to a conclusion that she might have caught feelings for bokuto.

once she was finished with cutting all the veggies, y/n got up from her seat and gave the bowl to her mother. a smile curled on her lips as she took the bowl from her hands and softly pecked her cheek which made her giggle softly.

"thank you sweetie, I'm nearly done. i just have to fry these pieces of chicken."
she spoke as she threw another piece in the boiling oil. y/n nodded her head before wiping her hands with a napkin.

"i hope he leaves early..."
the female mumbled, causing her mother to laugh. having him over was a bad idea since she's been struggling with understanding her feelings. it was pretty obvious that they're screaming love, but she tried her best to deny it.

"I can't believe that kotaro-kun is gonna be my son in law soon!"
y/n choked on her breath once she heard what her mother said. she turned to face her with a frown and flushed cheeks.

"m-mom! don't say stuff like that- that's so gross..."
despite her pleading, her mother kept teasing her about bokuto. having four people doing that was too much for her; her mother, brother, kiyoko and kuroo. and not to forget about bokuto's special teasing which was the hardest to deal with.

the food was neatly placed on the table along with plates and glasses, forks and chopsticks, water and other drinks. akaashi came downstairs after finishing up with his schoolwork, he found the table already set and everything was in place. feeling bad for not helping out with preparing lunch, he walked towards the kitchen and apologized to his mother which made her laugh and embrace her son.

"kotaro hurry up, im starving..."
y/n rubbed her empty, growling belly with her eyes locked on the variety of food in front of her. akaashi chuckled and patted her head before sitting next to her.

"he'll come soon, be patient."
she scoffed as she laid back against the chair, as she was about to say something to break the silence, a loud knock could be heard on the door.

"why don't you go open the door, sis?"
akaashi smiled softly at his sister, causing her to glare at him and walk towards the door lazily. once she opened the door, she had no time to react as she was immediately met with bokuto's big, bear hug.
