WINTER BREAK WAS ABOUT TO BE OVER, and akaashi was already busy studying for his upcoming exams and practicing for future volleyball matches. he was pretty drained from all the extra effort he was putting on lately, but there was something that made him forget all of his worries. the fact that his sister was going to apply for fukurodani academy made him super happy and relieved. knowing his sister, she could pass any kind of exam without any trouble, but the issue here was their father, he hasn't called or texted since she came to japan, and he had a bad feeling about the whole thing. however, y/n assured him that he can't do anything about it since she's already eighteen, and that he probably has bigger problems to take care of there, involving his company and its suspicious success.

it was pretty odd to transfer in the last semester, but thankfully, entrance exams are always waiting for new, brilliant students to join fukurodani. that is why, on the last day of winter break, akaashi took his sister to school to take the exam. the principal told her that she has to wait for at least two days for the results. and before she knew it, she was already done with the test. she bowed respectfully to the principal and left the school without a single worry.

and just like the principal said, the school sent her a big envelope. akaashi was quick to walk out of the house and grab it from the mailbox before returning to his sister and mother. y/n wore a blank expression as she ripped the envelope while her mother was mentally praying for her.

"oh, i got accepted."
y/n shrugged her shoulders and was about to walk away when her mother pulled her into the tightest hug and planted kisses all over her face.

"I'M SO PROUD OF YOU SWEETIE!"
she was in tears as she kept shaking her daughter, back and forth. akaashi soon joined and kissed his sister's forehead.

"as expected from the queen."
y/n scoffed, causing him to chuckle. even though she didn't show any emotions, she was happy that she got in. she was finally capable of escaping the prison that her father threw her into and discovering what this world has to offer from different chances and opportunities. a sigh escaped her lips as she embraced her family, a soft smile slowly forming. they stayed like that for a while, not wanting to pull away from each other, and they all wished that time could freeze so they could treasure this moment forever.

after lunch, akaashi left to practice with the team and the mother got a call for work. it ended up with y/n staying alone for the rest of the evening. she wanted to ask kiyoko and hitoka if they could come and stay the night over, however, she assumed that they were busy with manager duties. sighing, she decided to read some of her brother's manga collection. getting on her bed, her fingers lightly traced against the books until she found her favorite series. she smiled to herself before taking it and laying back on her bed. despite her being a cold and tough girl, she still had a soft side, especially for shojo manga. she loved the romance genre to bits, but only in anime. she always believed that real life romance was disgusting beyond words.

one of the reasons behind her choice of this manga series was the main characters' relationship. the male protagonist was a hyper, bubbly ray of sunshine. he always teases his best friend, would see everything with extreme positivity and nothing could drag him down, while the female was a total tsundere; she would never show her true emotions, always cold and bullies him but deep down she was head over heels for him. somehow, their relationship reminded her of hers and bokuto's. their vibe totally matched theirs, and for a moment, it felt like this anime was an adaptation of their life.
