chapter twenty-two: safety precautions

This project beating my ass right now. This past week I have gotten six hours of sleep at most, but Jordan has been less sleep than me since he takes the night shift. I told him I would help, but he just pushes me back on the bed whenever I try to get up. Having twins is hard especially when they're not on the same schedule. It seems like whenever Jayden is not crying Jaxson is and it's vice versa. I told Jordan see what happens when you wish for more than you can handle. I just hope this is a lesson to him.

I was making a fake bottle when Jordan walks into the kitchen with our other baby and hands him to me. My eyes follow him as he walks over to the living room and I hear his body connect with the leather sofa. I'm not too far behind and I place the babies in their car seats releasing a sigh.

"Come here baby."

I get under the blanket laying my body on top of his. Thank hod it's a Saturday but my birth control appointment is later today and I'm kind of excited. Jordan is more excited than me and I know exactly why...nasty ass. At least we can have extra protection whenever we slip up even though there is a chance I might get pregnant. That is something we do not want right now. At all.

My eyes slowly close as I feel his skinny fingers draw circles down my vertebrae. I snuggle closer to his bare chest taking a quick whiff on his scent. I find it cute that our scents are staring to rub off of each other.

My body almost fell into a deep slumber until I heard crying and Jordan groans.

"It's ok I got it."

I reach into the car seats grabbing both babies and they immediately stop crying.

"Awe hall just wanted to be held", I coo.

Jordan reaches for a baby as we both sit up with our backs against the plush couch. The plan of taking a nap is donezo so I grab the tv remote to put on a little background noise.

"What time is your appointment again?"

"Two thirty, but my mom will be here at one fifty to pick us up."

"Are we taking the babies with us?"

"Your mom said she would watch them while we're gone."

He nods his head rocking back and forth to try to get the baby to go to "sleep."

"I can't wait until I get to actually have kids with you. Honestly I can't wait for us to spend the rest of our lives with one another."

"Awww I can't wait for that too baby! All I know is that our wedding is going to be so fun."

I lean back into the couch again watching the beginning of The Princess and The Frog.

I sat on the examination table swinging my legs back and forth waiting for the doctor to come back inside. My mom and Jordan sat in the extra chairs that were in the room as well being in their own world. Before she prescribe me my birth control I had to take a pregnancy test which should come out negative. Soon enough we hear a knock on the door and the doctor pokes her head in between the doorframe and the door.

"Well good news Miss. Nova you are not pregnant."

I see Jordan release a heavy breath and give him a look. There's no way this boy had fear in his heart when I've been getting my period and we use condoms.

"So I sent in your prescription to your local pharmacy and I'll refill it every twenty eight days."

"Thank you so much."

"No problem sweetheart but remember that the pills are more effective when you take them everyday at the exact same time."

"I'll make sure she takes them", Jordan blurts out.

Dr. Wilson smiles at the two of us before escorting us to the front so my mom can handle business.

"You're on the pill now that's exciting."

"Yeah just so we won't have any slip ups."

Jordan gives me a small smile before flattening my hair down and placing a kiss on my forehead.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

I wrap my arms around him as we both sway side to side.

"Jordan?"

"Yeah baby?"

"Just because I'm on the pill does not mean turn me into a Twinkie."

"Oh please gotta do it at least one time."

My fingers pinch his side causing him to jump. His lips place a soft kiss on mine as we exit the office once my mom is finished.

when I tell y'all this book is going to be long af I mean LONG AF. They're only sophomores in high school and I plan to write about la lumiere, michigan, the draft process, draft night, his rookie year, etc. I'm thinking about not writing about the covid year because covid was a tough time for all of us. There will be a lot of time jumps so be prepared so the next chapter will be a time jump. Thank you guys so much for reading this book and showing so much love🩵
