The next day Luke decided to call Alexandra. He loved the way her name rolled off his tongue. It was so beautiful, yet demanding and strong.
He sat on the couch in the living room and held the phone up to his ear. He favored calling over texting. He felt like the connection with calling was more real than the one with just sending a few words with someone.
"Hello?" A girls voice rang into lukes ear. Her voice was the same timber as the sound a gong makes when the people hit it was that giant drum stick. Luke smiled. That didn't even make any sense. He didn't really care.
"Uh hey. It's Luke from the other night." He cleared his throat and waited patiently.
"Oh!" The girl seemed suprised. Then she said in a quieter voice, "I didn't think you would call."
"Oh." Luke said confused, and slightly hurt. "I'm sorry I-"
"No!" The girl cut him off. "I'm happy you did. I was sad that you hadn't." Lukes stomach turned. She was happy. Oh shit he had made her happy.
"Yeah, well." Luke pulled his fingers through is blonde hair so giddy with excitement he didn't know what to say. "How are you?"
"Good, good." Alexandra sighed. "Busy, but good."
"What are you busy with?" Luke asked, lying all he way back on the couch and looked up at the ceiling.
"I'm a writer. I'm writing a book."
"That awesome!" Luke said, impressed.
"Yeah, thanks." Alexandra laughed nervously. "Look Luke, I need to go, but I'll talk to some other time alright? I'd really love to meet up too. Okay-"
"Wait!" Luke cut her off frantically, sitting upright.
"What? The girl asked. Luke noticed that whenever the Alexandra was unsure or unaware about something, her voice got quieter.
"Okay I know this sounds stupid..." Luke trailed off, his cheeks slightly pink. "But do you know what your zodiac sign is? I was just wondering." He bit his lip, waiting for her reply.
She laughed. "You are into that kind of stuff? That's awesome. I'm a scorpio. Just the best sign."
Luke almost dropped the phone. He had found her.
"Hello?" She said after a couple of seconds.
"Sorry." Luke said quickly. "Uh, I'll talk to you tommorow. Bye." He hind up and stared at the blank tv in front of him. She was a scorpio. They were most compatible.
