"Yes!" You shouted loudly, pumping a closed fist into the air in victory. " I can't believe I did so well on that assignment!" looking around you noticed at least a dozen strangers looking in your direction. A shy, apologetic smile made its way across your features before you sunk down into your chair trying to hide from the embarrassment you were feeling. "I didn't solve the case, but they are going to reevaluate some of the statements from one of the previous suspects." You mumbled to yourself as you read the e-mail Mr. Kirisawa had sent regarding your school assignment. It had taken him a couple weeks to grade the class's assignments and you had been so nervous that you nearly started the bad habit of chewing your nails again from anticipation.

You placed your order with the waitress who came up to the table, boasting that you were celebrating a good grade on a difficult assignment, and the older woman smiled happily before congratulating you and moving to another table. Looking around, you noticed how peaceful the small cafe was, it had quickly become your go-to spot and now you could understand why. "This place never changes, it's the one constant in this crazy life." When the waitress returned with your celebratory cake you thanked her and paid before enjoying the delicious dessert.

You had been going to the cafe daily at various times, hoping to see Ryuzaki again but had no luck so far. I would like to speak with him again, I feel like something was off with him last time we met.

-----Ryuzaki (L)'s P.O.V.-----

I arrived at the office earlier than usual, even for me, to ensure no one else would be around yet. I hurried over to my chair before getting comfortable, knees tucked under my body as I assumed what most people would call a 'perched' position. Surveying the room, I found that I was indeed alone and quickly pulled out a small USB drive and plugged it into the computer. "Now, let's see what new updates we have." A smirk crept across my lips as I booted up the program I had had Watari help create. The program came to life, changing my view from the computer's home screen to that of a quite detailed map of the city. A message tab appeared on the right-hand side of the screen, which consisted of notable changes in locations for the target in question. Ah, looks like (f/n) is enjoying another meal at the cafe this morning. What is the probability that she returns so often because it reminds her of me? Though, now that I am aware of her true motives, perhaps she is there to gather information by studying the public. The smirk on my face grew into a wide smile at the thought. Just imagine her, sitting there thinking she has me fooled into believing she truly wants to be a detective, but I know the truth. She is really just-

"Ryuzaki, why do you always get here so early?" Light's voice interrupts my thoughts, the wide smile my face contained had vanished instantly, along with the pleasure of my internal monologue. Exiting the program hurriedly, I slip the USB drive back into my pocket before spinning my chair around to meet the young male's gaze.

"Ah, Light. Have you found anything new to share pertaining to the case?" I stare into his eyes, maintaining eye contact, searching for any signs that he may have seen my actions, but he lowers his head, eyes returning to his phone without even a hint of suspicion. He begins giving me small, unimportant updates as to what actions he has taken to progress the Kira case, but I let my mind wander back to that small cafe, and the woman there.

The morning meeting finished earlier than expected as there weren't many updates that needed brought to attention. After providing all of the detectives with their duties for the day the detectives slowly began making their way out of the room, beginning their respective tasks.
