"No, I am not watching Poltergeist."
He sighed. "Come one. It can't be that scary."
"You can't say anything to make me watch that movie."
"Fine. How 'bout Pitch Perfect 2?"
"Sure."
We got our tickets and popcorn. We found seats in the theatre and sat down. It was a little awkward since I haven't been one a date since sophomore year, but I soon warm up to Lance.
Lance moves the arm rest in the middle of us and pulls me closer. I flinched and he looked at me with this look in his eye.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied. In reality I was freaking out. The last time a guy tried to get close to me, he touched places that no one should touch on a first date or until you are married for that matter. I punched that guy in the face and now it haunts me. That was in sophomore year.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah." I assured him, scooting over.
He put his arm around me and we continued to watch the previews. Lance laughed at me when I dug my face into his shirt when a scary commercial would come on.
"You really don't like horror movies, do you?"
I shook my head in his shirt. He laughed. "I promise, it's over."
I waited a few seconds and then looked up. I'm glad he wasn't messing with me, because I'm pretty sure if he was I would run out of this theatre.
The movie started and the popcorn was already almost gone. Oops. The movie went by fast, probably because it was a comedy. The lights soon flickered on, signifying the end of the movie.
We walked out of the theater hand in hand. I was surprise because I hadn't really held anyone's hand in such a long time. Ever since I went on that date with Morgan in sophomore year.
"So, did you like the movie?" Lance asked.
"Yeah, it wasn't as good as the first one though. Did you like it?" I asked.
"Yep. So, what you want to do now?"
"We could go to the park across the street." I suggested.
"Sounds good, but let's make sure we are back before dark."
"Is Mister Horror Movie afraid of the dark?"
"Shut up."
I laughed as we sat down on the bench in front of the fountain.
"So, what do you do in your free time?" He asked, trying to make conversation.
"Well, since I can't really do anything, I read. I used to go for runs, but can't really do that. I can't even walk very good." He laughed. "So, what do you do for fun?"
"I like to play basketball. That's really it."
I smiled. "That's all you do? Play basketball?"
"Pretty much. Do you have any siblings?"
"Two. Hudson and Lia. Both older. You?"
"Just Kylee, but my mom is pregnant."
We sat there in silence watching the sunset. As it started to get darker, we headed toward my house.
"I had a fun time tonight." Lance commented.
We stepped in front of the front door. "I did too."
