It was now the end of the month and I was getting ready for the wedding I'm going to with Tyler. I find a dress with a white, lace top with a teal bottom that was shorter in the front then the back. I put on some brown combat boots. I lightly curled my hair, put it in a pony tail, and topped it off with a flower crown. I went down stairs to see Lia on the couch.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I heard you were going to a wedding. I knew that you would need some help getting ready," she told me.
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I ask.
"Well first, no combat boots. Second, you need make up. Last, your hair needs some help," she said.
"In my opinion, I look amazing."
"Exactly. It's your opinion. Get back up stairs."
I slowly went up the stairs, regretting my decision. Lia got me a stool and I sat down.
She took of my boots replaced them with brown, boot heels. I think that's what they are.
She puts my hair up in a bun then starts my makeup. I would have put up more of a fight, but with Lia, you never win. Trust me, I've tried.
She put on foundation then some blush. It was followed by the use of this contraption, that squeezed your eyelashes. She added blush to my eyes. I think it's eyeshadow. Eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick topped it off.
Lia added a 'love' ring and my 'A' necklace. "Ta da!"
I looked in the mirror, and wow. I should have Lia get me ready everyday. Well, I don't think I could go all day, everyday, with this gunk on my face.
"I'm guessing you like it?" Lia commented, at the flabbergasted look on my face.
Just as we exited the doorbell rang. I got to the door and there stood Tyler, in a tux. His mouth dropped open when he saw me.
"You look nice," he said flabbergasted.
"Thanks, you too."
We stood there for a while just him staring at me. To be honest it was really creepy. I then decided to speak up.
"Shall we go?"
"If you stop using the word 'shall.'"
I laughed and followed him to his car. He opened the door for me, which I don't like. I like to do things on my own. I excepted it and got into the car.
He started the car and rolled out of the driveway.
"Your wearing makeup," Tyler stated.
"Yep, but don't get used to it."
He laughed and we mostly kept small talk the rest of the ride there. Tyler briefly told me a little but about his family, before we arrived at the chapel.
We took our seats in the 4th row next to a bunch of people. It was really crowed, but I guess that's what a wedding is like. I have only been to one, and it was small.
"Hey, Tyler," he turned his head toward me, "Where is your family? If it is your aunt's wedding, Wong your parents and siblings going too?"
"My parents should be here by now. They had to drop off my siblings at a family friend's house. We were told that younger kids couldn't come."
"I see."
As if right on cue, his parents sat a few rows back.
Why couldn't he just go with his parents and hang with his cousins? Why did I have to go? I was happy to come, but still.
People started filing in as time went on. A blonde girl and guy came and sat next to me. Then two guys with black hair, that looked like brothers, came over and sat next to Tyler.
"What's up, man!" one of the guys with black hair yelled, a little too loud for a wedding in my opinion. They then did that handshake hug thing that men do. I still don't understand it.
"Hi," I squeaked.
He gave me a weird look as I held out me hand to shake his.
"Alexia, this is Ted, my cousin. Ted this is Alexia, my friend," Tyler said, introducing us.
He just gave me a head nod and the other one smiled and said, "I'm Lance."
"Hi."
We sat and talked for a while. Ted started to warm up to me and not feel so distant. Everyone was in position for the wedding and the music started.
We stood up, and glanced to the bride. She was stunning. She carefully walked slowly behind the cutest flower girl, with her bridesmaids following close behind.
The wedding ceremony went by quickly, which I thought was unusual for a wedding. After we heard the famous line, "You may now kiss the bride," everyone watched the couple exit, then followed.
We went to the reception. There were multiple circular tables and a couple long, rectangular tables. All the guests had assigned seating.
Tyler and I sat with Ted, Lance, and a couple of other teenagers I didn't know.
A bunch of speeches went on around the tables. After everyone had said what they wanted to, we got food. I got a plate of food and sat down.
"Oh, I forgot a drink. You want anything?" Tyler asked.
"I can get some cider by myself. Thanks though."
"Sit down, I will go get some cider."
I slowly ate the pasta and Tyler came up.
"Like what you see, Quincy?"
"What?"
"You were checking me out."
"No."
"Yes."
"I was just." I paused, not knowing what to say, "Admiring your eyes.
"Are you sure it was just my eyes?"
"Yep."
"Liar, it was way more than just my eyes."
"You know only two percent of the world's population have true green eyes."
"Don't try and confuse me with math, because it is obviously going to work."
Our arguing was cut off by Lance. "Alexia, do you go to the same school as Tyler?"
We continue to talk. Soon Ted joined in, then the other teenagers, who's names I learned are Isaac, Emmica, Kaylee, and Derrick.
We ended up on the dance floor. I can't dance, let alone in crutches, but hey a girl could dream.
