The wonderful smell of gingerbread and warm sugar cookies filled the room as I pulled the pan out of the oven. It was Christmas Eve and a family tradition was to make a homemade gingerbread house and sugar cookies on Christmas Eve. This year I was stuck with the job.

Right as I sat the tray down, Hudson grabbed a cookie but soon threw it back on the tray, complaining about his burnt hand.

"You're such an idiot. Did you not see me pull these out of the oven?" I asked my brother, now rinsing his hand under the sink.

"I did, but I didn't except them to be that hot."

"It's three hundred and fifty degrees."

Hudson just glared at me and walked out of the kitchen, babying his hand. I rolled my eyes and started to make frosting.

I finished whipping the sugar and butter when the cookies cooled. I grabbed one to try, just to make sure it wasn't laced with some disease. I bit into it, but it tasted gross. I took another bit and realized something; I had forgotten the sugar, in the sugar cookies. I groaned. I mean I could add more sugar to the frosting and no one will notice.

I finished up the cookies and gingerbread house and collapsed on the couch. I need to wrap some presents, but I can do it later. Hudson came in and sat on me eating a cookie.

"These are really good cookies, Santa," he managed to say eating the cookie and playing with the fuzz at the end of my Santa hat.

"Get off me, fattie."

He mumbled something about me being the fat one, since I was Santa. "So, Riley's having a Christmas party. He was wondering if you would like to go."

"Not really."

"He said you could bring someone if you want," he tried to convince me.

"I'm fine here."

"Okay."

Hudson got up and left. I got up along with him and started preparing for the rest of the Christmas celebration.

I wrapped all the presents, made a couple things for dinner and put them in the fridge. In a few short hours some of my cousins and grandparents will be coming over. A nap sounds lovely right now.

I woke up to the doorbell ringing and sprinted up right. I went to the front door where I found my family greeting each other. I hugged my Grammy and Papa, along with my cousins, Bill, Stephanie, Trinidad, Joseph, and Cami. Also their parents, Mariah and Zachary.

The adults went into the family room, while us kids went to my bedroom. Bill is 17, Stephanie is 16, Trinidad is 14, Joseph is 13, and Cami or Cameron is 11.

"You have so many books," Cami commented.

I laughed lightly. "Yeah, I guess I do."

We played board games and just caught up on each others life's. Lia and Josh soon joined us.

"You've got a girlfriend?" I asked, surprised.

"Yeah. I didn't know it was so hard to believe that I did," Bill responded.

"I'm sorry. It's just that you've never had one in the 17 years of your life and you've always said you didn't want to date," Hudson joined the conversation.

"Sometimes people change."

We all had fun, ate food, and opened presents. Christmas can't get any better. Soon everybody left and we all went to bed, except Hudson. I soon fell asleep after he left.

I walked on the sidewalks of my street. The thing was, it was dark and foggy. Everything looked depressing, except my outfit. I was wearing bright pinks and greens. It wouldn't have looked good with my hair but my hair was shaved.

Out of no where, Morgan came into view. He had something behind his back, but it wasn't in my line of vision.

"Why should a lunatic like you be allowed on this Earth? I guess we should fix that." Morgan smirked and pulled his hand from behind his back. Before I had time to run, a knife was in my lower stomach.

I woke up sweaty and scared. So, I did the only thing I could think of. I picked up my phone and dialed the number I have so many times before.

"Zoe, we are going to a Christmas party."

Zoe didn't want to go at first, but now we are standing in front of Riley's house. He shares it with a couple other people. My brother used to be one of them, but he then went to college.

We walked right in, assuming no one would hear the doorbell over the music bellowing out into the yard. There actually wasn't as many people which was sort of a plus. It looked as though each of the five roommates had only invited 3 people each. Zoe and I soon found ourselves soon on the couch playing Truth or Dare.

"Truth or dare?" Riley asked.

"Dare," Hudson replied.

"You have to pick one other player to put lipstick on you without their hands."

"That's all you got?"

"We've been playing for two hours. I'm running out of good dares."

Hudson ended up with Piper doing his lipstick. We started all getting tired. Zoe went to use the bathroom before we left. I stood in the kitchen with some of hosts, cleaning up.

"I have to pee!" Riley yelled dropping the cups in the garbage can, running out of the room.

After about ten minutes Zoe still had not come back. Worried that she had gotten sick, I went to the bathroom. I ended up finding Zoe, but not the way I had planned.

Zoe had her lips pressed against Riley's, her hands intertwined in his hair and his on her back. I just froze not wanting to interrupt anything. Soon, but not soon enough, they broke away.

"I've been wanted to do that since we met in 1st grade," Riley whispered.

"I have since last year," Zoe whispered back, then spotted me.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to make sure you were okay. It's obvious now that you were more than fine."

I could see Zoe blush even in the dark hallway. Riley looked awkward and embarrassed as well.

"I'll leave now." I backed away quickly, not wanting to interrupt anymore than I already had.

Zoe soon came back into the room, with Riley following behind her. We left and jumped into the car.

"You kissed Riley!"

She laughed. "Yeah. He's a really good kisser."

Now it was my turn to laugh. "How long have you liked him?"

"Since last year. It was that day when we went to the park. I actually got to know him that day and stopped thinking of him as the book nerd."

I smiled. I was happy for Zoe. She had her heart broken a week ago and she had finally moved on.

A/N:
So, sorry I haven't updated! I was on vacation and didn't have much time to update. I also didn't know what to do for this chapter, so I wrote some other chapters. This was kind of a boring chapter, though.

Okay so I'm tired of starting every chapter with, "Sorry I haven't updated." So, I'm gonna update once a week. I don't know which day though. Also, you all want another book so, I think I will write one. Okay well, bye. Have a great day and until you read again.
