Ainz sat alone in a spacious room, his back positioned against a metal wall. Roughly five hours ago, he'd requested his own living quarters from Captain Anderson, which resulted in him being relocated to one of the lower decks.
The room was located near Dr.Chakwas' medical room. This meant he could visit her easily and without crossing the entire Normandy, something he was very grateful for. Based on their last conversation, the woman was good company.
'Her aura is very motherly,' Ainz noted before standing up from his king-sized bed. Its frame was thin and made of alloy, with a decently thick mattress pressed on top to provide comfort. Much nicer than what he slept on in his old apartment.
Ainz walked across the chambers, finding himself looming above a metal locker with his name on the front. With a tired sigh, he opened the container and pulled out the last thing you'd expect a magic caster of his calibre to posses.
Armour.
Captain Anderson gifted him a suit of modern Alliance Military armour. Apparently, it was utilised by an N7 soldier rank called 'destroyer' class. Their main purpose was to push forward on the battlefield and strike their enemy with incredible force. However, that was in return for increased weight.
The design of the armour was extremely bulky, with sharp edges decorating the shoulders, arms, and chestplate. A pattern of red and white covered the upper arms of the uniform and ended at the metallic wrists. To complete the uniform look, the logo for the N7 program was branded onto the right chestplate.
Ainz unbuckled the main straps of the legs. "Time to start the day," He commented while carefully aligning the front panels with his fleshless leg, eventually clipping the back struts into place and moving on to the waist area.
The rhythm was much the same, with the Overlord using his keen sight to calculate the angle of the metal plates, which he then proceeded to click together, and utilised the straps provided. After a moment of consideration, Ainz grabbed the chest plate, leaving the arms and shoulders for last, making use of the extra flexibility.
"Just about ready," Ainz said with optimism before picking up the remaining pieces of reinforced metal that lay inside his personal locker. With another clipping of locks and straps, he was finally dawning his 'Destroyer' armour.
After checking over his gear, and collecting his arsenal of Alliance weaponry, Ainz began walking through the main canteen area of the Normandy and up to the elevator. He pressed the 'up' button and waited.
Twenty seconds passed before the metal door opened with a soft hum. The Overlord gave his outfit a look-over to ensure he looked professional and continued towards the main deck, in search of Captain Anderson. However, he was momentarily distracted by a strange sight:
Joker -the Normandy's pilot- and Alenko -the first Lieutenant- were sitting in the cockpit of the vessel while shifting icons on their respective holographic interfaces. Behind them loomed a tall alien with rock-like flesh, reminding Ainz of a specific talk he had with Anderson.
This was a Turian, one of the most influential species in Citadel Space. From what he gathered from Anderson and Hackett, they had the largest military fleet in the galaxy.
"Calculating transit mass and destination." Joker said, flicking through the Normandy UI. "The relay is hot. Acquiring approach vector. All stations secure for transit." The Overlord felt a tugging sensation through the floor. He noticed a large object floating in the distance.
'Holy crap....' Ainz thought as he got a closer look at the strange object. He didn't notice the structure when travelling to Earth with Captain Anderson, and he wasn't sure what to expect. He was awestruck.
