Captain Brody pushed a button and a video played on the screen. Dr. Stafford, Detective Lewis, Peter, and every officer and detective that precinct 111 could afford sat and watched the CCTV video of the prison transport. The van stopped in the middle of an intersection on a busy street. The driver got out of the vehicle and walked off camera. A large, black SUV hit the right side of the prison transport van with enough force to crush the side of it. After a minute, another large, SUV, silver this time, smashed into the left side of the van. After another minute the driver walked back into frame, along with two other men. They all had large guns. The back doors of the transport were pried open, and you were dragged out. One of the new men entered the back of the van and two gunshots could be seen flashing on the screen. Then he walked back out. It was obvious that you were at least unconscious, possibly dead. Peter noticed blood dripping down your face and realized that your chains were still attached to your wrists and ankles. His heart raced as he watched the men put you in the trunk and drive off, in an unmarked, black sedan that would be nearly impossible to trace. Peter rubbed his face through his mask, feeling terror that he hadn't felt in a while. Dr. Stafford noticed his distress and patted his shoulder.
"Just twenty minutes ago, a prison transport vehicle carrying only Y/N Parker, a guard named Tracy Shawnte, and a driver impersonating Bob Seaver, was ambushed. The driver, who we don't know much about, was impersonating Bob Seaver who seems to be in the hospital with severe food borne illness since last night. We don't know where Y/N was taken or why, but it would seem it has to do with this Justin Beaumont business. It has come to my attention that new evidence has been found, implicating someone else as a suspect, but we haven't gotten a hit on fingerprints yet. We do know that the fingerprints on the new evidence are not Y/N's. I want officers canvassing the area, I want to know where that car went after taking Y/N. I want the men identified. It is important that we get back our own! Let's go!" Captain Brody shouted and quickly, officers began heading in different directions. "Dr. Stafford, where is Detective Ortega? I believe she was coming to see you to go over the autopsy?"
"Yes, sir. We were just finishing up when an officer arrived and told us what had happened. She said that she needed to stop by the restroom for an urgent matter and I came here...." The doctor paused for a moment, obviously thinking about something. "Come to think of it, the officer who told us what happened never returned either. In my haste to get to the bullpen I didn't even notice. Quick, to the morgue!" He shouted and ran in that direction. Peter got there first, followed by the doctor, Detective Lewis, and the captain. He pushed on the door to the morgue, but it was locked. Dr. Stafford swiped his security badge but still, the door would not open. Peter had enough and kicked it with enough force to dent the door. The doors swung opened and they entered a gruesome scene. The morgue was dark, save for an examination light over one of the metal exam tables. On the table laid Kate Ortega, blood dripping from her body onto the floor. Her neck had been sliced identically to Justin Beaumont's. Laying on her forehead was a wet, dead rat, it's neck also sliced. Peter noticed that Kate was wearing the clothes that you had worn to the precinct earlier that day. The clothes that you had been forced to leave as evidence, switched for a blue prison jumpsuit, when you were arrested. On her stomach was a piece of paper, folded in half. Peter slowly stepped closer to the poor woman and reached for the paper. He opened it and read what was on it out loud.
"I love to watch the rats drown," he said, as realization struck him. He shoved the note in the direction of Dr. Stafford and quickly ripped off his mask, throwing up into the trash can beside the exam table. Dr. Stafford examined the note, then handed it to Detective Lewis so that he could approach Peter. He put a hand on the young man's back as Peter continued retching into the trashcan. Detective Lewis stood, watching Peter, flabbergasted that Spider-Man was just a young man, and confused. Surely, Spider-Man had seen gruesome scenes before, why was he reacting so strongly? Peter finished throwing up and wiped his mouth. He turned to the detective and the captain, keeping his mask off, knowing that now was the time to explain everything.
"My name is Peter Parker," he stated, Dr. Stafford patting his shoulder. The other two men waited for him to continue, "Y/N is my wife." Realization dawned on Detective Lewis and Captain Brody. They stood in silence, waiting to hear what Peter had to say. "She's been taken by Mario Romano. He's going to kill her if we don't stop him. We have to move fast."
"How do you know it was Mario Romano?" Captain Brody asked.
"Detective Ortega is wearing Y/N's clothes, the ones that she had on this morning. He always leaves something of Y/N's on one of his victims when he is trying to send a message. And the note, that is something he said when he had captured Y/N the first time. He considers her a rat because she overheard some important information and came to the police, which allowed you guys to take down his organization. It's been a long while, but he's back and he's not messing around this time. He wants her dead." Peter said, his face pale.
"First things first," Captain Brody said, approaching Peter. "Thank you for your service to our city, and for all of your help, young man." He held out his hand to Peter, who shook it quickly. "Now, let's watch the security footage from inside the morgue, then see if the officers were able to find the car on CCTV throughout the city."
All four men made their way to the security booth. Peter had replaced his mask and was walking behind the captain and detective with Dr. Stafford. They entered the room and Captain Brody had someone pull up the video footage of the morgue. They all watched Detective Ortega and Dr. Stafford talking over Justin Beaumont's body. A uniformed officer entered the doors and walked toward the detective. He was speaking and Dr. Stafford began to turn town the door As he was walking to the door, the uniformed officer approached Detective Ortega. He held a knife to her back and she said something to Dr. Stafford.
"That's when she told me she needed the restroom. How could I have been so stupid?" The older man said, shaking his head. Detective Lewis patted the old man's shoulder.
"You couldn't have known, doc. It's not your fault," Detective Lewis said. The men watched as Dr. Stafford walked out the doors and Detective Ortega tried to fight back. The officer and the detective threw punches at each other, but the back door of the morgue opened up. Mario Romano himself stepped into the morgue. He held a gun, pointed at Kate. The officer tied Kate's hands and Mario stepped behind her. In one fluid motion, he pulled a knife from his pocked and sliced her throat. He set the scene exactly as the men had found it, waved at the security camera, and walked out the back door. Not only had Mario Romano himself committed the murder, but he was taunting the police. He thought that he couldn't be touched. Anger and fear boiled within Peter. He wanted to kill this man.
"Sir," another officer entered the security booth and addressed the captain, "the car has been found on CCTV, we found them." All four men followed the officer to the office of an analyst, ready to find out where they were heading.
