Peter paced around the morgue like a caged lion, agitated and angry. He obviously believed that you were innocent, but he had no leads as to who actually did this, and the evidence was stacked against you. It had been planted in order to frame you, but how and by whom was still a mystery. Dr. Stafford had asked Peter, as Spider-Man, to come to the morgue. Detective Lewis, along with some of his most trusted men, had just arrived and sat down at a clean table, having been summoned by the doctor as well. Peter joined them and waited for Dr. Stafford to explain why he had asked them all here.
"Thank you all for coming," the doctor started, looking tired but sporting his usual pristine lab coat. "I have just been informed that Kate Ortega will be the new head detective of Y/N's case. She is temporarily transferring here until the case is closed. She works out of one of the Brooklyn precincts. She is tough, smart, and tenacious. She is a wonderful detective, but not always the most sympathetic. I don't think this bodes well for Y/N."
"He's right," detective Lewis stated, looking to Spider-Man and his men, "She is by the book and very motivated to prove herself. She's not likely to think outside the box with all of the evidence stacked against Y/N. We know Y/N, her history, and her character, we know she didn't do this, but Kate doesn't and she will be eager to close the case quickly and get back to her own precinct. We have to work quickly to find out who is framing Y/N and why. Most importantly, this must be kept secret. Only the men in this room know that we are doing this. Don't speak a word to anyone else. With Justin working in the precinct, we don't know who we can trust."
"I agree," Dr. Stafford said, "we must work quickly and efficiently. Secrecy is of utmost importance. Thankfully, I have a lead." The doctor turned and grabbed a piece of paper behind him. "This is a toxicology report of the blood from Y/N's sneaker. It's not much, and Detective Ortega will have this as soon as she gets here, so we don't have much of a head start, but there are a few promising details. Firstly, the blood is mixed with high amounts of water and sugar, along with caramel coloring and flavor. Looking at the ratios of blood to other ingredients, it is likely that Y/N stepped in a puddle of soda with some blood mixed in it, rather than a pool of blood with a little soda mixed in. She was probably unaware that she even stepped in a puddle to begin with. Thankfully, it hasn't rained in days, so a large puddle of soda is likely still there. Unless someone cleaned it completely, which is unlikely, there is at least some residual stickiness that would attract bugs. I think that we should look at the route that she would have taken from her apartment to the corner store and see if we can find that puddle. Kate will be here any minute and will likely make an arrest as quickly as possible, so we don't have time to waste," the doctor stated. He looked at Peter, worry in his eyes. "I think you had better hurry. The boys here will follow up with anything you find, but the Captain has called all hands on deck when Kate arrives, so you're on your own for this. If you find the puddle, take pictures of the surrounding area, anything that looks out of the ordinary, and bring me a sample in this tube." He handed Peter a small test tube with a screw-on lid. "Best be off," he said, just as he and Detective Lewis received a message that Kate Ortega had arrived.
Peter didn't waste a minute, he exited out the back door of the morgue and off into the city.
