She sat, curled up in a small ball, against the white wall. Fragile body trembling from weeping, quiet sobs escaping as she does so. It burned in her throat, lungs, and veins, a hot, throbing pain spreading through her whole body. Just her heart stayed cold, freezing with the pain of being abandoned, left behind, and discarded like a piece of trash. Was she just of temporary use? A step ladder to help Kane towards their goal?

Then, a strong voice interrupted the harmonious cries and river of Kalikos' thoughts. "Tell me, what do you dread?" It spoke. The voice was cold and authoritarian, but in no way unfamiliar. Kaliko has heard it many times before, echoing off her skull inside her head. "Loneliness," Kaliko choked out, voice strained from crying and screaming. "Then you may never be alone again, for I was born with you and will stay at your side till the day you pass. Let us learn to truly be one, in both body and soul. " ... "Be one?" Kaliko asked, the shakiness of her voice not at last overshadowing the confusion.

"No matter if physically or emotionally, I will share your pain. You might still be a child, but you granted me life, for which I'll always be in your gratitude. You might have thought lowly of me, as a parasite perhaps, but I promise when the day comes that I can be of service to you is the day you will be glad to have me." ... "I have never thought lowly of you," Kaliko exclaimed, "You have always been a part of me, like my mind and body I do not know life without you. I strive for the day of freedom, and I will fight for it. As long as you stay with me, I have none to fret. Talk to me, and I will listen, as I hope you will listen to me too. I can not stand the silence of my own mind. It digs into my skin. So, for now, entertain me with sweet nothingness. That is the only service I ask of you." Kalikos' voice was soft and small as she rambled, but her crying had stopped.

For a moment, it went silent, and Kaliko questioned whether her request was too much to ask. As she was starting into the endless and bright white of the patient room, a figure showed in her peripheral vision. Upon turning around and seeing the slim and tall woman made of shadows, Kaliko shrieked. Her eyes widened, and she fell back a bit, staring at the beautiful woman. "Dearest Kaliko," she spoke, and Kaliko realized that she was who the voice belonged to, "don't fear me, I am not a threat to you." Kaliko would never have guessed that the voice was real or even belonged to a person. "How did you speak to me if you are real?" The girl in white questioned. "I am not completely real, I walk the line between this world and mine. I am a demon whose soul is held in your body together with yours."

Kaliko was stunned, she had always assumed that the calm voice was chimerical. Kaliko figured: "So, are you not a real person?" ... " 'person' is a description that's not to be taken lightly, child. I might look like a human, but as I told you, I'm not. I can only materialize in shadow and take this form so as not to scare you. The world of demons is horror, I advise you to keep as much distance as you're able to with me as your accomplice."
