📍31st December 2020 - Perth, Australia

Amber paced around the bedroom as her boyfriend's voice drifted through the air; her mobile's loud speaker working wonders for her as she located an outfit for tonight's party.

Daniel was hosting his annual New Years soirée as he frantically ran around his farm to decorate.

He had blown up about a million and one balloons as well as placed banners and hung fairy lights, all to make it perfect for the vast number of friends he had in attendance this evening.

Amber and Francesca had been joined at the hip ever since she arrived the night after Amber and Daniel's 'almost kiss'.

Even though Amber couldn't stop thinking about it, she hadn't broached the subject again with Daniel, in order to save herself any embarrassment.

He was drunk, she thought to herself time and time again.

Her mind was a constant whir over the situation, but she knew that it was wrong. She had Liam; she couldn't be looking at anyone else.

"You do realise it's six in the morning here." Liam yawned down the phone as he placed his hand over his eyes to rub the tiredness away, shuffling around in the white linen sheets of his five star hotel room. "You're going to be in 2021 before me."

"I'm basically time travelling." Amber laughed as she pulled out various outfits, holding them up against her figure and viewing her reflection. "Are you celebrating today?"

"Yeah, there's a party on at Zane's so I'll end up going to that. Depending on how good that is, we may end up at a bar or club." Liam said with a sleepy voice, his throat cracking as he spoke, desperate for a drink. "So, this Daniel guy is having a party?"

"Yeah, his house is pretty big so he's hosting. Apparently he does it every year." Amber said as she sat on the end of the bed picking at her nails nervously as her current boyfriend asked about the man who she couldn't stop thinking about.

The very man who she had been actively avoiding since Francesca arrived.

Francesca acted as a barrier between Amber and Daniel, ensuring Amber didn't feel overly embarrassed by their previous encounter and acting as a third party to get her out of spending anymore alone time with Daniel.

"That's cool." Liam said as he rolled over onto his stomach, holding his phone tightly to his ear. "Make sure you have fun, yeah? I'll call you at midnight."

"Your midnight is my midday." Amber corrected him as Liam chucked, informing Amber that he would call when the clock stroke twelve in New York.

As the call ended, Amber dressed herself in a plain black playsuit. It was low backed which meant she couldn't wear a bra. She decided to pair it with some knee high boots as she zipped each shoe up her leg.

Francesca had joined Amber in her bedroom, proceeding to do their makeup together as they listened to music and danced together, preparing for what this evening had in store.

"It's like a club downstairs." Francesca said as she came running back into the bedroom holding a bottle of wine and two glasses. "Daniel's really gone all out on this party."

Amber smiled as she watched Francesca pour the wine into each glass as Francesca raised her eyebrow at her friend.

"Why are you ignoring him?" Francesca asked as she handed Amber her glass of wine. Amber reluctantly took the drink from her friend's hand as she felt the words in which she had spoken; deeply stabbing her in the chest.
