And just like that folks, a friendship began to blossom.

Ok, maybe not your typical friendship, but the two women were becoming more friendly. It weirded Lisa out that she actually didn't hate being around Jennie as much as she'd thought. She was being extremely nice, giving her a ride to and from work until her car got fixed. About that, her car needed a new transmission and some other things done and they wanted $3,500 for it, money she didn't have. Her boss offered to let her drive one of the company cars for as long as she needed, but Lisa didn't want that kind of responsibility. Also, those cars were fucking nice, and she wasn't exactly the best driver.

So Jennie it was.

It was the 4th of July and parties were in full swing on her street. She was thankful for the day off and slept in a little later than normal. She'd gotten up around eleven a.m. and got dressed in jean shorts and a yellow tank top. It was hot outside and she had been sitting out on the porch most of the day sipping on iced tea and reading a book. She didn't get to do this often and so decided to use the holiday to do absolutely nothing.

As she sat finishing off what had to be her forth glass of tea, Jennie's invitation crossed her mind. Don't get her wrong, Lisa was enjoying her peace and quiet, but on the occasion she would look up from her book, she saw her neighbors having parties and cooking out. She might have been the only one who didn't have company. She had Love, who sat obediently next to her when he wasn't out sniffing in her small front yard. She'd texted Joy to see what she was doing, but hadn't heard back from her.

Maybe she was a little lonely...It was just because of the holiday that she felt like this, Lisa told herself. Should she stop by Jennie's? It couldn't hurt, and she was sure Jennie would be happy to have her.

Just do it! If you feel uncomfortable you can always leave.

Before she could chicken out she looked down at her dog. "Love, go get your leash buddy." She opened the screen door for him to grab his leash from the hook on the wall.

Hooking it around his neck, she stepped into her flip flops, locked her front door and the two began walking down the street. Literally, Jennie's house was around the corner. Strange that they lived so close but, it can't be anymore strange than their many encounters thus far.

As she approached Jennie's place Lisa saw her sitting out on her porch, much like she had been doing. Her dogs were sleeping by her feet and she was typing away on her computer. Lisa wanted to turn around thinking it was a bad idea because she seemed busy. But it was as if Jennie could sense her, she looked up and they locked eyes. The smile that spread across her face made Lisa pause.

"You came!" Jennie stood.

"Uh, yeah. Love and I were taking a walk and I thought it would be nice to...stop by."

"I'm glad. I was really hoping you would." There was a softness to the way she'd said it that made Lisa blush. Jennie had been making her blush a lot lately. Always complementing her clothes and hair. She knew there was an attraction there, but it still unnerved her.

Jennie's front yard was bigger than Lisa's and she had a small gate around her property. Lisa felt safe to let Love off his leash. He trotted over to his new friends who were just as happy to see him. Lisa moved her eyes back to where Jennie stood and caught the way the other woman watched her.

She slowly walked toward her feeling really shy. "You look nice." Jennie complemented her.

Lisa looked down at herself. "I'm literally dressed just like you."
