A Bowuigi story (no title yet)

Chapter 1 - Conversations

Narrators POV:

Peach, Mario and Luigi walked together to get to Bowsers castle. Lava bubbled beside them and Koopas strolled pass them, giving them quick glances. Somehow in this fiery land, red trees bloomed along the bath, with a weird type of fruit hanging in the tree.

Luigi nervously glanced up at the castle ahead. It was made of black bricks with spikes adoring pillars that rose by it. Mario glanced over at his nervous brother and gently put his hand on Luigi's shoulder.

"Don't worry bro. Bowsers not gonna hurt us, no matter how scary his castle is." Mario said reassuringly. Luigi gave Mario a weak smile before turning back to the castle. It loomed over the whole town and gave Luigi a haunting feeling.

Soon they reached the huge castle gates and Peach knocked on it gently. They waited a few seconds before the doors creaked open, revealing Bowser sitting on his thrown, talking to Kamek. Bowser lifted his head up to look at the three of them. Kamek stopped talking and started staring at them too. Bowser whispered something to Kamek before Kamek scuttled off.

"Hello Bowser." Princess Peach said. Bowser sighed before he stood up and trudged over to Peach.

"Hello Peach." Bowser responded as he extended his claw. Mario intently watched Peach and Bowser shake hands, as if Bowser was going to attack any second.

Bowser glanced over at Mario and noticed someone behind him. It was Luigi, but Bowser didn't know who he was. Bowser let go of Peach's head and turned to Mario.

"Who's behind you?" Bowser asked, pointing at Luigi. Luigi gulped and stood frozen in fear. Mario stepped back to introduce Luigi.

"This is my brother, Luigi." Mario answered. Bowser eyed Luigi before turning around.

"Please, let's eat some lunch. I can't have my guests starving." Bowser stated. Luigi shook of the anxiousness and the three of them followed Bowser into his dining hall. It was decorated with red and gold banners with Bowsers little logo on the end. Two sides of the walls were lined with elongated half-circles with black grilles. Some windows had little bamboo plants placed in a tiny space where the cut out of the window was. The dining table was fairly long, with a gold candelabra in the middle, red flames flickering on the candle tips.

Bowser sat at the head of the table and Mario and Peach sat on the right side, as Luigi sat on the left side closest to Bowser. Luigi looked down at the array of fancy forks lined on the table. Suddenly a group of Koopas came out with a rolling cart filled with all kinds of food. Mario and Luigi were in awe at the amount of food Bowser had provided.

"Please help yourselves." Bowser announced. Mario and Luigi were the first ones to try and grab the food, while Bowser and Peach waited for their turn. They all got their food and soon they started eating.

So, what did you need to talk to my about Bowser?" Peach questioned. Bowser looked up at her and swallowed his food.

"I wanted to talk about wedding plans. I want this to be up to par for the other royals, as they find this very important." Bowser explained. Mario slightly winced at the word wedding. Peach sighed and nodded in agreement. Soon they started a conversation about who was going to be there, how it would look, ect.

After a few minutes, Mario tapped Princess Peach's shoulder and asked to talk to her. They walked out of the room and Bowser sighed. Luigi turned to him and looked into his eyes. He looked slightly sad, as if he was upset at Peach and Mario leaving.

"Hey uh... Are you ok?" Luigi asked quietly. Bowsers eyes widen and he looked over at Luigi.

"I'm fine it's just- Never mind, it's nothing." Bowser mumbled.

"You can tell me anything. I promise not to tell Peach anything." Luigi affirmed. Bowser exhaled and shifted in his chair.

"It's just... I can tell that Peach really doesn't wanna do this. I can't blame her as I honestly don't wanna do this either. We're only doing it because it will benefit our statuses and kingdoms. " Bowser explained. "And honestly? I wish I had a support system like Peach does. I'm a little alone here.."

Luigi could hear the misery in Bowsers voice and Luigi felt sorry for the king. Luigi sat there for a few seconds before he got an idea and pulled out a pen and grabbed a napkin. Bowser watched as Luigi scribbled something down on the sheet.

"Here, my number. Just call or text me if you ever need to talk to someone about anything." Luigi said as he slid Bowser the napkin. Bowsers eyes twinkled as he gently grabbed the napkin and stared at it. Suddenly Peach appeared around the corner.

"My apologies Bowser, but we need to start heading back to the kingdom. We can keep discussing this another day." Peach declared. Bowser nodded and said his goodbyes to Luigi and the Princess.

Peach, Mario and Luigi started heading back to the kingdom. Peach and Mario were discussing the wedding, but Luigi was deep in thought, thinking about his conversation with Bowser and how the king opened up like that. It was obvious that it was weighing heavy on his mind, as he opened up very quickly about it.

Soon the three of them reached the Mushroom castle and Mario escorted Peach to the castle while Luigi headed home. Luigi got to his apartment and he fumbled with the keys until he unlocked the door and entered his room.

Luigi stumbled to his room and flopped onto the bed. Luigi put his hands over his face and sighed, before he heard his phone buzz. He sat up and grabbed it off the little nightstand by his bed. He read the notification and soon got excited. It was Bowser.

*Bowser: Hello this is Bowser, is this Luigi?*
*Luigi: yes it's Luigi! Wyd?*

Soon Luigi started talking with Bowser over text, talking about little things like the trees in Bowsers kingdom or some books that Luigi had read. Luigi enjoyed talking to Bowser and he wanted to hang out with Bowser soon.

*Luigi: Hey do you wanna hang soon?*
*Bowser: Sure! Is tomorrow at 6pm ok?*
Luigi: Yup! See you there!*
