The expression on Ellington's face was hard to read. Was he happy, upset, angry? You couldn't tell.
"You're pregnant?" Ellington repeated.
I nodded. "I'm pregnant," I confirmed.
"Whose is it?" He asked suddenly. I looked at him and my face fell.
"What do you mean, whose is it?" I asked. "It's yours!"
"No it isn't," Ellington stated, no expression in his voice or on his face.
"Yes it is!"
"Rydel, as many guys as you've slept with, there isn't a possibility that it's mine! So until that baby is born and there's a DNA test done, it isn't mine!" Ellington stormed off in the opposite direction, leaving me there in absolute shock.
He doesn't claim our child. He's the only guy I slept with for nearly a year, so of course it's his.
I trudged up the stairs, my body drained of energy. I collapsed on my bed gently and cried. I couldn't take any of this any longer.
Ellington doesn't want OUR child. I didn't expect him to in the first place, but whenever he got the words out of his mouth, it felt as if something broke inside of me.
Ellington's POV
I stormed out of the house, not even telling Callie I was leaving. Rydel just told me she was pregnant, and I know it's my child. I mean, of course it's mine.
But I couldn't make her think that I cared, because in reality, I cared more than anything. She was the main thing on my mind. And yes, I know I'm with Callie. Though she's absolutely beautiful, and really cool, we don't connect like me and Rydel.
I didn't want to break things off with Callie all of a sudden, because it's only been a month since we've started dating. So, I'm going to just wait for a couple of weeks, maybe months, just to see how everything goes.
The thought of Rydel being pregnant and it actually being my baby, was something that put me in complete awe. I was overwhelmed with joy, but I had to make it seem different.
I feel like the worse person on earth right now, because due to my messed up mind and fucked up ways, I can't think straight. Rydel is my everything, and the baby that's barely grown two weeks means more than the world itself to me.
I won't think too much into this, because I know I'll worry myself sick thinking about it.
I ran down the street to Baker's house, and of course he was home. Baylor came out of her tiny bedroom, Bailey on her hip, she was dressed casually but looked like she was going somewhere important.
Baylor's eyes fluttered as she saw me and I shrugged it off. I stepped inside of Baker's room, and his back was turned to me. The only way he would've known I came in is if he heard the door creak open. Which, in this case, didn't happen.
"Baker," I said, running over to him. I was trying my best to catch my breath that had went away while I ran.
"Yeah, dude?" He answered back, turning around and staring at me intensely.
"I-I need something. Something to calm me," I informed. Baker nodded knowingly and pulled out a small bag.
"I haven't had a very good run these past couple of weeks. So, I only have weed," Baker told me. I didn't care, though. I prepared the small token that was given to me, and took a long drag of it.
I coughed a couple of times, getting used to the burning sensation that filled my lungs.
"So, what's up?" Baker asked, taking a drag himself when I passed it to him.
"Rydel," I calmly said.
"Rydel?" Baker asked, I nodded. "Rydel Lynch?" Again, I nodded. "Dude, I went out with that chick a couple of weeks ago."
"Yeah, well, that chick. She's pregnant," I announced. Taking another long drag of the cigarette.
"Pregnant?! Oh shit!" Baker laughed, slapping me on the knee. "Who's the baby daddy?"
"Me."
"You're lying!"
"Why the freak would I be lying about something as serious as this, Baker?! Damn!" I shouted, hitting my hand on his desk.
"Why are you coming into my house and yelling at me?" Baker shouted, following me into the small living room of his.
"Because, you always think everything's a joke! Nothing's ever serious with you! It's like, you never take anything serious or you never acknowledge the fact that you're a twenty-two year old MAN. You have an eighteen-year-old and a five-year-old living in this house. The only income you guys have is Baylor working at that job she has where she only makes SEVEN dollars an hour, and then you're selling dope. They need your support, but everything's just a game to you. And you know what? It's time for you to grow up. Because, who knows, you could get a call in the middle of the night and someone tells you that they're pregnant with YOUR child. I know I've messed up in the past, and I'm probably going to mess up in the future, but for right now, I'm doing what's best for MY child."
With the ending of my lecture, I left. I didn't much care about Baker, anyway. He'd always bring me down, telling me what I needed to do better and what I shouldn't have done. But I'm done with all of that now.
Once I get everything fixed, I will make sure that I tell Rydel that I want to be with her and help her raise our kid. But for now, I've got to lay low for a couple of day and make myself invisible to the world.
