Rydel
-
I looked at Ellington, utter shock washing over me. "H-hey," I stuttered.
"Hey," he said back. He narrowed his eyes a bit, and I was getting more nervous than usual.
"How've you been?" I asked, a lump forming in the pit of my throat.
"I've been okay. . . I have been helping my mom out with the bakery she just opened."
"That's good," I smiled. Then, the awkward tension formed. I breathed out, looking around.
"Rydel, we shouldn't be nervous around each other. It shouldn't be as awkward as it is when we are around each other. I miss all of you guys, and I've been meaning to come by and visit, but I've just been so caught up with things at home that I haven't found the time," he said. I looked at him, a grin showing purely on my face.
"It's okay, Ellington. I know you're busy, and that's okay. But, it wouldn't kill you to ring us up sometime," I joked.
"I understand," he chuckled. "How about we go to your house."
"Okay." We walked down the road, and we were almost at my house.
"Rydel?" Ellington sighed, before pulling me behind a building.
"What?" I wondered.
"We both know what happened that night, I know you're a stripper. Regardless if you're one now or not, but you need to realize that I am here to help you." His hot breath sent tingles down my spine.
"Ellington, I know. I know you're ashamed in me, and I don't blame you. I've quit after you caught me that night. I owed it to my family, myself, and you. I didn't want to start doing it, but there's a reason why I di-" I was cut off by Ellington soft lips. I kissed back instantly, and I felt the butterflies, explosions, fireworks, and tingles all at once. I'm not sure if that's normal, but regardless, it felt nice.
"Rydel, I don't care why you did it. The main thing is, you've stopped. Now, I have been hiding something from you for the longest time. I never really realized what it was exactly, but I figured it out after I had dreams, saw you cry, and when I was with you everyday. I've figured out that I love you, more than the world itself will ever know. My life was never complete until after I found you. What you've done to yourself is the worst thing that has ever hurt me. You're so beautiful, and I wouldn't change a thing about you. You're the love of my life, and God, I can't help myself!" He finished up, kissing me again.
"Ellington, I have felt the exact same way. You're like the moon, so bright, so full of imperfections. But you've got that one quality about you that everyone adores. You may be my best friend, but I want to be so much more. I want to be with you when I watch scary movies on my couch. I want you to be the one that I walk down the aisle and hold hands with at the end of it. I want to be with you and buy a house. I want to wake up every morning and see you beside me and you kiss me even though I have bad morning breath. Ellington, I want you to be the father to the kids I will one day have. I want to grow old with you, and spend everyday with you. Forever is a long time, but I wouldn't mind spending it by your side," I told him. He looked at me, and the twinkle in his eyes assured me that he felt the same way.
"I wouldn't mind calling you mine," Ellington softly spoke.
"I wouldn't mind calling you mine either," I smiled, and looked at my feet. Ellington's finger found its way under my chin and lifted my head up.
"Then, will you be mine?" Ellington asked. I nodded,
"If you will be mine."
"Of course," he chuckled. He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"But I think we should keep it from my family for right now. Just until we get more serious."
"Okay, if it makes you happy, then of course."
"Okay, well, let's go to my house."
Ellington nodded and we proceeded down the sidewalk. I walked inside, Ellington following closely behind. "Guys!" I called.
"In the kitchen!" I heard Riker yell. I walked into the kitchen, where sure enough, everyone was.
"Guys, there's someone here that would like to say hey," I said. They all looked at me confused, and then Ellington stepped inside.
Gasps were heard from around the room. "Hey, Ratliff!" Rocky yelled. He jumped up and gave my boyfriend a bro hug.
"Hey, guys," Ellington replied. He then explained why he hasn't been around. Everyone nodded, and we caught up on things.
Ellington went home a few hours later, and all eyes were on me. "What?" I asked, annoyed.
"Rydellingtons happening, isn't it?" Rocky smirked.
"What? No!" I lied.
"Don't lie!" Riker replied.
"I'm not lying," I seethed.
"Okay, if you're not lying, then why were you with him?" Asked, Ross.
"Because I was at the park, swinging. I bumped into someone, and by instinct I ran to him and he stood up. I had no clue who it was, until he looked up. Then, we walked back here," I somewhat, truthfully, stated.
"Okay, well, if that's what you're going with," Ryland chimed in.
"Why wouldn't I be telling the truth?"
"Because, we know that you've had a crush on him since you were fifteen," Rocky smirked.
"You do realize that people change, don't you?"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean feelings do."
"Whatever," I scoffed. I stomped up the stairs, without another word. I laid down on my bed, and yelled, "I NEED AIR FRESHENER!"
Mom walked in a couple of minutes later, spraying a lavender scent into the room. "Ah, my favorite," I smiled. I fell asleep not long after, and dreamt about, Ellington.
