Donevan woke up the next morning to an empty bed. Dimitri wasn't in sight or anywhere in the room. He walked to the kitchen, but he wasn't there either.
"He left, he is working for Ashford until he gets back." Mason said.
"Oh, well ok. I am going for a walk." Donevan said and walked out the door for his walk.
It was usually rather warm today. With it being close to fall it was not too bad. He was in thought for a while that he didn't know he was in front of the hospital. He was always taken here for one reason or another. But, he knew the real reason was because of Dimitri. Ever since last night he felt really light and happy he didn't show it though, because it might just be a dream. How he wished it was going to be the rest of his life, but his fate was as small as an ant. He stopped dreaming a long time ago, he stopped believing after Sweden, and he also stopped hoping for the best.
"You know...nothing is going to happen if you stand out here." A voice told Donevan. He turned around and couldn't believe who was standing right in front of him.
"Kaden?" Donevan asked shocked.
"Yeah, in the flesh." Kaden said and smiled.
"What are you doing here?" Donevan asked again, still stunned and shocked that he was standing in front of Kaden.
"Well...you see...my husband is a surgeon here. He was talking about this guy getting a biopsy done. And the way he described it I had an inkling it was you." Kaden said as they were walking to the entrance.
"Donevan, you need to listen to me carefully. You were the only person that mattered to me. I wasn't just saying now that you are cancer free I don't have to care for you. I know it is stupid, but if I never said that then you wouldn't have met an amazing man who seriously is looking at me like I am a mouse, besides the point, you already knew just like with the other two, that you were never meant for us because you were meant for him." Kaden said and nodded behind Donevan. As he turned around he saw Dimitri come up to them.
"Kaden? What are you doing here?" Another voice asked.
"Oh, hey love." Kaden said but his voice was a little apprehensive. It was a little shaky and terrified.
"I told you not to leave the house." Dr. Maine scolded him. Dimitri looked at the doctor then back at Kaden. He could see fear in Kaden's eyes. And so could Donevan. Donevan stepped in front of Kaden and looked at Dr. Maine.
"Last time I checked, Kaden was an adult not a child." He then turned to Kaden, "are you safe at home?"
"Don't answer him." Dr. Maine said behind Donevan.
"Kaden?" Donevan looked into his eyes and saw absolute terror in them.
"No, I am not. He keeps me locked up in there. I can't go anywhere. I was able to escape today but usually when I do he hurts me bad." Kaden deflated.
"I do no such thing." Dr. Maine said getting very mad.
"Cameras don't lie." Kaden smirked, "After the last time you hit me to the point I almost died, I had cameras installed. It was under wraps because well...I don't work and I don't have a say in any money at all."
"You litt-" Before he could say anything else Donevan turned around and punched him square in the jaw. Nostrils flared he bent down to Dr. Maine and punched him in the nose.
"That is my oldest friend right there. IF ANYTHING were to happen to him then I would walk to the end of the earth to kill you! I will not hesitate." Donevan said.
Dimitri never saw this side of Donevan ever. If this is the Elite Four that he has heard of, he was the definition of scary. Dimitri actually took a step back from the situation. He walked off without even letting Donevan explain anything to him.
Kaden and Donevan gave their statements to the police officers and left the station.
"Where you two married?" Donevan asked.
"Nope. It was all a rouse. I had to see what he was like. I am an undercover agent, pretended to be his lover and husband because he has been abusing men left and right. When he told me about you he had this glint in his eye wanting you to be his next target. Thankfully, I pulled the 'I am scared' card and it worked." Kaden explained.
"Well I be getting in trouble?" Donevan asked.
"No, even if he presses charges the cops are turning a blind eye. They have been trying to get him for years." Kaden said.
They walked in silence back to Lucas's and Mason's apartment.
"Hey, look who I found." Donevan called out.
Mason and Lucas walked out shocked.
"Where's Mr.Hunk? You aren't going back to him?" Lucas asked confused.
"I really don't know. He left when Donevan started hitting someone I was trying to arrest." Kaden said then explained to Mason and Lucas everything.
"So, when you left him and had sex with someone in his room...you were undercover but couldn't say anything?" Mason asked.
"Yes, I was working with the police and they had me do all that. The person I had sex with as an ex of his I was trying for a different approach but Amber had different methods. As for the man whore...well I am truthfully sorry my parents weren't around when I was growing up, it doesn't excuse everything. So, I had to be mean and rude. It wasn't something that I really liked doing but I had to." Kaden explained Donevan could see the truth in those eyes.
"Huh, makes sense but yeah different approach could have worked better than that." Lucas deadpanned.
"I know." Kaden sighed, "Now lets go find your man."
"Gah, he isnt mine." Donevan exclaimed.
"Might as well be. Dude was scared shitless when you whammed that guy." Kaden said.
"Fine," Donevan said as he threw his hands up over it all.
Dimitri sat in his office replaying what had happened hours ago. He was shaking, he knew Donevan could fight but never actually seen it. Dr. Maine was what everyone thought he wasn't. But even a cobra lies in wait until they strike.
He just didn't know how to approach Donevan after that, he was scared and terrified. He didn't want to be in a relationship with someone who knew how to fight, he wanted quiet and calm but the man he wants is anything but, Donevan is like a thunder storm first the lightning strikes and then calm.
He heard a knock on his door, "Come in," he said and looked up as that Kaden guy came in.
"Donevan didn't want to come. He was afraid you might be scared of him now." Kaden said.
"Honestly, I am" Dimitri said.
"I get it. What he did is something he used to do in the dojo. He was always a hot head. But, there's is something that you need to know. I am an under cover agent and I was getting evidence against Dr. Maine. He was going to hurt Donevan, yes I hurt him too but I had my reasons on it. You should never be scared of him. He is really sweet and has this funny and goofy personality. You should really get to know him before you judge him based on what he did." Kaden said.
"Can I ask you something?" Dimitri asked Kaden gestured to go on, "was there any feelings on your side?"
"Just friendly. He will always hold a very special place in my heart, just like everyone else's, yes I do love him. Always have since I met him. Donevan isn't a pushy person. He wont ask for anything hardly. He has always been in his own shell. And seeing him like this hurts me something fierce." Kaden said.
"I see," Dimitri said.
"It's a lot I get it. But if you want him in the long run you can't get mad or upset when he does something to protect someone. You should look up the fights in Sweden if you really want to know him." Kaden said as he left Dimitri's office.
Dimitri sat there and thought about what Kaden said. He went to his web browser and typed in Sweden Elite Four. As he sat there and watched all the matches he was stunned. He saw how Donevan fought. How he was confident in the ring with his opponent. Always ready to strike, like a cobra.
