6:00 AM
Karl's POV

I wake up to the cacophony of my alarm, my sister yelling about how she's gonna be late, and the hustle-bustle of my parents running around, getting ready for work.
Shutting off my alarm, I throw the blankets off of me. It's the first day of school today. It's also really sunny. Like blinding. I yawned, stretched, and got out of bed.

I'm starting 11th grade today, and my sister is going into 5th grade.

Glancing in my mirror, I take in my wavy, longish chestnut hair, my greyish blue eyes, and my light dusting of freckles over my nose. I smile. I look like a male version of my mom when she was younger.
Digging through my dresser, I yank out a pair of khaki shorts and a lilac t-shirt, paired with a grey flannel, then I brush and style my hair until it sits just right.

When I finally finish, I walk out to the living room, where just Kelly is sitting. She's eating Eggos. She looks over at me.
"Good morning," she smiles.
"'Morning," I answer, walking over to the kitchen. I pop two Eggos in the toaster and lean on the counter.
'School. How exciting. At least I get to see everyone.'

My Eggos pop up and I carefully pull them out of the toaster and onto a plate. I grab the syrup and pour it onto the waffles and take the plate out to the living room.
"I take it they're gone?" I ask, referring to our parents. I take a bite out of an Eggo. Kelly nods.

I look around the living room in which me and my sister grew up. There was a tan leather recliner, a blue La-z-boy that we inherited from my grandparents, and an old scuffed coffee table with lion's feet for legs that I can only assume also came from a relative.

The floor is blonde hardwood, and there's a huge maroon rug in the middle of the room.
There's photos all over the walls, of me, Kelly, our family, relatives, and when my parents got married.
Our television is mounted on the wall, and a brick fireplace resides under it. The mantel holds more photos, trinkets, and decorative vases.

You could say our house is either cluttered, or lived-in.

Eventually, it's time for us to go to school. Kelly takes a bus and I walk. I slip on my Vans and Kelly her Sketchers. I grab my bag and skateboard and we're out the door. I take her out to the bus stop. Eventually, the banana yellow bus pulls up and she gets on.
"Bye Kelly!" I call, taking off.

Karl arrives at school. He picks up his skateboard because there's a rule that forbids skateboarding on the premises. Walking up to the small yard, with his skateboard under his arm, he looks around the courtyard and spots a raven-haired boy.
"Sapnap!" he calls, waving at his best friend. The ravenette looks up and smiles. Karl jogs the last few feet. He drops his skateboard and wraps him up in a hug. Sapnap giggles, hugging Karl back.
"God I missed you," Sapnap mumbles into Karl's shoulder.
"I missed you too," The brunette replies. Just then, he sees a tall dirty blond and a short brunette walking over to them. He lets go of Sapnap and walks toward the couple.
"Dream! George!" he calls. The two look up, and grin.
"Hey Karl! How was the summer?" George questions, giving him a shoulder hug.
"Just like any other summer. Skateboarding, going to the lake house, et cetera." George just rolls his eyes. Dream chuckles and fist-bumps Karl.

A short boy suddenly comes running over to the group. He's got shoulder length raven hair and a navy blue beanie.

"Hey guys!" He yells.
"Quackity!" The boys yell back, wrapping the boy up in a group hug. The boys start laughing at their antics and let go. Just then, the bell rings.

"See y'all later!" Karl yells. He gets responded to with 'bye' and 'see you later's. The boys go their separate ways. Karl walks off towards his homeroom. Luckily, it was close to the front of the school, so all he had to do was drop off his stuff in his locker, and walk about 10 feet to his homeroom.

"And mitochondria-" The bell rang. "Oh! Well I guess that wraps it up for today, class dismissed."
As the students filed out of the class, Karl thought about the upcoming football tryouts. Somehow, he always made the team, even though he didn't know a thing about football. Skating and gaming was more his thing. Maybe he was just a good asset to the team.

Suddenly, he was walking through the cafeteria doors. The brunette was instantly hit with the smell of old pizza, overly sweet perfume, and sweat. He stopped just inside the doors, and scanned the room for his friends. Just then, he heard Quackity's unmistakable laugh through the chatter of the cafeteria. He smiled, and walked in the direction of the laugh. In no time, he was sitting with his friends, blabbering about the stupidest things.
