New beginnings

6 Years later

Jungkook walked to his office, tightening his coat a bit more, as the cold winter air flew once again. Another Valentine's Day is around the corner, and every place is filled with roses, hearts, and decorations. And another year of pining over the loss of the love of his life for Jungkook.

He showed his ID to the guard at the entrance of his building and saw that his own building had a big arrangement of red roses on display.
He let out a sigh, stopping on his tracks.
"Why the big sigh, Jeon..don't have a date for Valentines?"
He turned and saw his friend Yoongi, who worked in the same building, walking through the door towards him with his adorable gummy smile.
He shook his head and said, "Hey, Hyung!" When did i ever had a date..valentine's or not. What about you? Are you going to give in to Taehyung finally..poor guy has been trying for months."
"I hate these days..commercialised to make people buy meaningless stuff.." he shrugged off.
"And about Taehyung, I don't like him like that."
"You are anti-romantic. I know that.Taehyung is a good guy though, and he is freaking handsome too." Jungkook stared at the roses once again.

Yoongi sighed and shook his head, understanding what the younger was thinking.
"And you need to let go..he has been married for 5 years, he has a kid, doesn't he..?"
Jungkook nodded
Apart from Jimin and his fiancée, Yoongi is the only one who knew about his broken one-sided love. They became friends in a really unexpected way. They both used to ride the elevator to work at the same time most days but never talked, one day Jungkook was late and the elevator closed on him while he ran inside and he hurt his arms; that was the day he and Yoongi first talked. He insisted and took Jungkook to the hospital; they became acquainted after that and gradually became really good friends.

"I know its hard when you've been in love with him for all these years, but him being happily married is the cue to stop obsessing over him if you ask me..and you haven't even heard about him after he moved to Japan with his family."
Jungkook knew every word Yoongi spoke made sense, and he needed to move on. He was 26 years old, and he still hadn't been on a proper date or even kissed anyone. He just kept his head down, sighing.
"You should try dating, sweetheart," Yoongi kept a hand on his shoulder.
Jungkook's heart fluttered hearing Yoongi call him "sweetheart," a nickname that he always used on personal conversations, while Jungkook thought it was harmless, Jimin and his fiance Namjoon thought Yoongi had a sort of crush on him. Jimin was pretty sure about it since he rejected Taehyung, who according to Jimin was the most handsome man in the world.

Jungkook snorted, "Who would date me? I think I would spend my entire date talking about my long-lost love. I'm so pathetic, Hyung! I formed my entire life around that man, and he doesn't even want to talk to me now!"
Yoongi laughed at him.
"Date me then" he said, smirking.
"Hyung?! " Jungkook looked at him shocked.
He nodded. "Why ?!  "I'm anti-romantic, so you can spend the date talking about him, I wouldn't mind."
"Hyung, that's not fair to you," Jungkook said, not sure if Yoongi was being serious.
"Sweetheart, I know your story. I'm willing to be patient with you if that's what's stopping you from trying to date."

Jungkook shook his head in disbelief; the sudden tone change in Yoongi's voice surprised him. "You are seriously asking me out on Valentine's Day!"
"Don't you love this mushy stuff?" he pointed at the roses.
Jungkook laughed at his cold demeanour while trying to be romantic.
"You are not serious..did Jimin ask you to do this? He is delusional, thinking that you liked me..I know he made a vow to never give up until I find someone..ignore him, Hyung."
"So even your stupid friend understands that I have a crush on you, and yet you don't. That's interesting!"

He gulped down looking at the elder.
" Hyung  I seriously don't know what to do. I haven't even.." he began to say.
"You haven't even kissed anyone yet..yep, I know," Yoongi caressed his cheeks with his large hands.
"Well, call me old-fashioned, but that just adds up to your charm. It drives me crazy that no one has ever had a taste of those lips." Yoongi looked at him biting on his lips .
Jungkook couldn't believe that Yoongi could talk like that to him . all these years of knowing him, and he has never spoken to him the way he talked to him now.

"Why suddenly?" Jungkook asked still confused about the sudden suggestion of them dating
He shrugged. "I always liked you Jungkook, then you confessed about being still in love with Seokjin , so i waited for you to maybe have a change of heart before asking, but you never did.It's not sudden, but I didn't plan to ask now either. I guess it just came out naturally.so what do you say? Wanna go out with me?"
Jungkook let out a laugh. " Shit!!  I had this whole imagination of being asked out for the first time or asking someone out being such a romantic thing..you are so casual."
" Sorry!!  "I'm not used to stuff like that," he scratched his head.
"Should I try to be more..sweet or something?"
"Hyung it's fine..I mean, it's perfect..I just meant to say that I loved it..it's just not what I imagined, but it feels right somehow.." Jungkook said with a smile
"Was that a yes, Jeon?" Yoongi looked at him smirking
Jungkook sighed and laughed "Are you planning to call me Jeon your entire life?"
"Are you planning about the entire life already, Kook..I like it." He grinned
"You are impossible, Hyung!" Jungkook shoved him playfully
"I m " he winked .
They both laughed together , finally when they stopped Jungkook looked at the elder
" I hope you won't regret this hyung"
" Trust me sweetheart ,i won't"
