After 3 years

Yoongi sat on the benches of Yongsan Park, sipping his coffee. It was weird being back to the same place he once called home and feel like a complete stranger. Everything felt like new to him, Nothing much changed about the place , but he felt everything was different somehow.He has been to this park a million times before, and knew the difference he felt was about the man who used to be beside him.

Jungkook and Yoongi broke up after that day's talk. Yoongi came back from his parents place and moved out of their apartment, and he later took a work opportunity to move into another faraway branch of his bank and disappeared completely from everyone's life. Much to everyone's surprise, he didn't even come back to attend Jimin and Namjoon's wedding, even though he sent an apology and a gift for not coming personally. That was when everyone knew that it was indeed useless to search for him because he didn't wanted to be found. And that was the last contact he made with anyone in the city. He was deeply hurt, and he didn't want to remember it anymore.

Yoongi was currently waiting for Kai to meet him .His bank asked him to go back to his  old place since a senior and experienced analyst like him was more needed there. He wanted to reject the offer and even considered quitting, but his dad advised him to take it as it would only benefit his future and that he needed to face his past someday and he cannot keep avoiding it always.So when he came back two days ago, the first person he contacted was Kai; he still worked at the same bank and they decided to meet up today.

Yoongi looked at a couple walking past him.
The guy was tickling his girlfriend, making her laugh. They looked so happy and good together.
He smiled fondly seeing that. The city and it's views ..infact everthing reminded him of his old life, the happy life he had once.
He even  tried dating a few times in these years, but nothing worked in his favour, and none of those men went farther than the first or second dates .He wondered what Jungkook was doing and if he and Seokjin were finally together.

Jung Kook's life changed drastically after that day. He was a mess for a long time. He refused to come out of his room for days, and Jimin and Namjoon had to break his door and drag him out and get him counselling to get him back to normal. And after a year of causing constant worry to his parents and friends, he decided to move on from Yoongi.

Yoongi got up from the bench to dispose the coffee cup he had in his hand. His phone rang just then; he was trying to take the phone out of his pocket when he accidentally bumped into a kid, making him drop his ice cream cone to the ground.

"I m sorry..oh damn! I didn't see," he apologised, seeing the ice cream cone on the ground completely ruined and the adorable child looking at it with a large pout.
He looked like he was about 5-6 years old and was wearing an iron man shirt and black shorts . The kid looked up at Yoongi with big sad eyes.
"Heyy, I'm sorry. I will buy you a new one. Where are your parents? I can get permission from them..or give them money for that" he asked.
The kid kept looking at him, blinking and tilting his head like he didn't understand what he was saying.

Yoongi then saw that he had a hearing device attached to his ears
"Ohh !!! You can't hear?!" He asked in action
The kid nodded in response
"And I don't know how to sign!" Yoongi tried telling him, and the kid motioned for him to speak louder.
"I m sorry," he said louder and touched  his heart, apologising.
The kid smiled beautifully and nodded.
Yoongi tried again asking him for his parents "Your parents.."

"Jun Baby..what are you doing?..you.."a voice cutt him off and approached Yoongi from behind and stopped midsentance.

Yoongi's breath hitched the moment he heard that voice. The second he heard it, he knew who it belonged to. He turned back and saw Jeon Jungkook looking back at him with the same big doe eyes he once fell in love with.
"Hyung.." Jungkook called under his breath.

Yoongi couldn't believe his eyes! What were the odds of him running into his ex the moment he stepped out in his old city once again!! He looked at Jungkook nervously ..he hadn't seen him in three years. Jungkook looked older and more mature in yoongi's eyes , he felt his heart melting the moment he laid eyes on him again.
Yoongi let out a breath he was holding "Koo..Jungkook.. how are you? , he managed to ask finally.
JungKook wiped his face and  laughed nervously. "I m good! Really good! You are here! Are you visiting or..." he asked, biting on his lips, his nervousness evident on his face.
Yoongi nodded". Yeah, I'm back. Guess they wanted me to work here again."
Jungkook's face broke out into a big smile, but he controlled it quickly.
"Ahhh," he said,nodding

The boy Yoongi was with came near Jungkook, held his hands, and asked him who the man was by signing.
Jungkook looked at Yoongi for a second before signing back, saying it was Yoongi, and the boy smiled understanding him and said Yoongi made him drop his ice cream and offered to buy him a new one
Jungkook patted his head softly while Yoongi looked at their conversation, not understanding anything.
"who is this?!" He asked put of the curiosity that was killing him, he hadn't known about a child like this in Jungkook's family when they were dating and he now wondered who it was as they seemed very close.

Jungkook smiled wide, hearing him ask ", Ohh, I forgot to introduce .... This is Yejun, My son!"

Yoongi was shocked for a moment. "Your..what?! You got married?!" He asked suddenly
Jungkook laughed, seeing Yoongi's shocked face. "Ahh no, I adopted him. It's just me and him. It's a long story," he said, trapping his son in a back hug and kissing his hair.
"Ohh!! Wow!! that's..great..I mean wow!!" Yoongi was at a loss for words. He expected him to have a new boyfriend, but he never expected to see Jungkook as the father of a child.

"It's nice to see you, Hyung. It's been so long. You look good. You got  slimmer.." Jungkook looked at Yoongi from head to toe biting his lips slightly.
Yoongi felt the way Jungkook's was checking him out and felt a bit shy..the slightest-bit of pink creeping upon on his cheeks.."I guess you look good too. Your hair is different," Yoongi said back..

Jungkook touched his now short hair"Oh yes, it's easy this way..the maintenance and all..I'm a dad now, so priorities have changed so much," he said smiling.
Yoongi nodded, sighing. He didn't know what to say, even though he had a tonne of questions.But he didn't know if it was appropriate to ask him anything.Yoongi knew he was the one who wanted to be away from him, but he still felt a tiny pinch of happiness inside when Jungkook told that he is still single, but he didn't want to think about it a lot .

His phone ran again, breaking his thoughts and they both realised thatvthey have been staring at eachother for a while and not speaking anything. Yoongi checked the phone and  saw Kai's message that he had arrived and is parking his car.
Yoongis sighed and looked back at the Younger"I..I need to go. I'm meeting someone," he said to Jungkook.

Jungkook raised his eyebrows and licked his lips, it was evident that he too had a lot to ask "Ohh ok..ok.. ! I guess I will see around since you are back."
"Yeah," Yoongi nodded  and he turned back to walk, his heart beating out of his chest.

"Hyung..." Jungkook called after a moment
Yoongi immidiately turned back and looked at him in question .
"I'm sorry about asking...but if you don't mind, would you want to go out for coffee sometime? To catch up..That is, if your boyfriend doesn't mind?" He asked with big eyes, fiddling with the ends of his sweatshirt.

Yoongi smiled lightly. "Actually, I would like that.!! We can catch up... And my non-existent boyfriend won't mind either!"
This time Jungkook's smile did break out, and he quickly took something from his wallet.
"My card, Hyung, in case you don't have my number..its the same one from back then but ..yeah..take it..." He handed it to Yoongi still smiling like an idiot.
Yoongi looked at his card and saw that Jungkook was now in a different company at a much higher position, he felt proud inside for some reason "Oh yeah!! , I will call you, I guess..."Yoongi smiled and kept the card in his pocket.

Jungkook waved at him, followed by Yejun. Yoongi smiled and waved at both before walking away. He smiled to himself while walking, a strange kind of happiness filling him inside. At that moment, he didn't feel like a stranger in the city anymore..he felt like he was home again.
