"We are going to be late to the in-laws. You know how they go all out for their 4th of July parties these days." I stress to Cassie as we walk into an empty house.

"I'm sorry I have such a picky, demanding client." She replies.

Cassie walks off to inspect the house I assume. I pull my phone out and call Alex with a sigh.

"Well hello beautiful." He answers.

"Hey, Cass has a last minute showing. Can you come over so we're not late to your mom and dad's."

"Sure, where are you?"

"I'll send the address."

"Do you have Xander?" He asks.

"No, I dropped him off before Cass and I went shopping."

"Ok, see you in a few."

We say our goodbyes and I text him the address as soon as I hang up.

"Alex is on his way." I shout out to Cassie who has wandered off.

She pops out of a room and smiles.

"Great. Now that I’m back, let's talk. Have you told him anything yet?"

I sigh and roll my eyes. Instead of telling her no I just stay quiet. She just shakes her head and heads up stairs to finish her inspection before her client gets there. I look around the small house. There's a nice kitchen and living room with an open floor plan. I see a small half bath. I poke my head in a doorway and find a small room with large built-in book shelves. I smile, now that's life goals.

It takes Alex about twenty minutes to get here. He rings the doorbell and I let him in. He follows me into the house as I yell for Cassie.

"Hey Cass, Alex is here."

"Ok!" She yells from upstairs.

When I turn back to Alex he is looking around. When our eyes lock on each other his smile is contagious. He walks over and wraps his arms around me. He leans in and kisses me.

"Hi. I've missed you today." He says once our lips part.

I laugh. "I missed you too."

Looking at him I take a deep breath. It’s time.

"There's something we need to talk about."

Lines on his forehead appear as his brows pull together.

"Are you ok?" He asks.

"I am fine." I smile up at him.

"Ok what is it?"

I try to find the right words. I have thought of a hundred different ways to tell him and they are all running through my mind right now.

"I have always made my decisions on my own. I am sorry because I know I keep hurting you by doing this."

"What are you talking about?" He looks at me confused and worried.

"Whether it was about our relationship, where I went to school, or most importantly keeping my pregnancy from you. I had to be the one to make the decision on my own. And now I've made another one without giving you a chance to make the decision with me.

"What decision?" I can see he is acting calm but inside he is a storm.

"School…"

"If it's about Berkeley next month I understand. We will make it work. I don't know how we will afford it all yet but our families are willing to help. Xander and I will go with you, there is no question about that." He cut me off in his relief.
