A car honked outside my window and I got up to see who it was. I saw an unfamiliar car, and I went downstairs to see who was in the car. I opened the door to see a lady step out of the car, long, straight, brown hair, tall and slim. Bright white smile and a welcoming atmosphere as she approached me. Her lips were a pale pink and round. She wore little makeup; I noticed as she got closer. I also saw that she had beautiful chocolate brown eyes.

"Hi, I'm Avyana, you can call me Avy if you'd like," her voice was like honey, sweet but not overbearing. She offered me her hand which I politely shook with a smile on my face.

"I'm Jessica," I greeted, "You must be looking for Harry, I'm assuming?"

"Yes, we had plans to go out today," she explained, and I welcomed her inside.

"Please excuse the mess in the living room, I haven't been able to tidy up yet today," I said as I adjusted my ponytail.

"It's fine, I understand being busy," she smiled as I went upstairs to get Harry. I knocked on his door and found him asleep in his bed. I walked over and shook him

"Harry, get up, Avyana is here," I said, and Harry jumped out of bed and to the bathroom he went. he slammed the door but opened it again.

"Tell her I'll be down in fifteen minutes, I overslept," Harry slammed the door again, and I went back downstairs. Avy was sitting on the couch waiting when I returned.

"Harry's alarm clock died last night, so he overslept, he will be down in about fifteen minutes. He apologizes for the wait," I explained and sat on the chair next to the couch, "Would you like something to drink while you wait? We have tea, coffee, soda, anything."

"Coffee would be nice, thank you."

I got off the chair and went to the kitchen to get Avy coffee. I heard a knock at the back door that was attached to the kitchen. I quickly brought Avy her coffee along with the sugar and creamer if she wanted any. I ran to the back door and opened it to reveal Matt and Nathaniel.

"Hey, guys," I greeted and pulled up my shirt before I crossed my arms across my chest since my shirt cut a bit to low to wear around boys, "what are you doing here?"

"I had to get Nathaniel's help to get to your house," Matt shrugged, and my eyes widened in the realization that it was Saturday and I was going to the falls with Matt. I quickly glanced at the clock of the stove, and it said 11:21 A.M.

"I know I'm early, I thought it would take longer to find your house after staying at Nathaniel's last night," Matt saw my confusion and explained himself. Nathaniel nodded, and I realized he had a glaze over his eyes like he wasn't all here and his eyes locked on mine. I waved my hand over his eyes, and he snapped out of the trance he was in.

"Okay, well, come on in. Make yourself comfortable, and I will get ready to leave," Matt walked in, but Nathaniel stayed stationary outside.

"I'm going to talk to Jessica for a second before I leave, Matt," Nathaniel said, and Matt nodded as I stepped outside, closing the door behind me. Nathaniel immediately took off his sweatshirt and wrapped it around me. I rolled my eyes and sat on the steps in front of us, Nathaniel sat next to me.

We sat in silence for a bit, listening to the kids next door play in the fallen leaves. Nathaniel let out a deep sigh, "So you guys are going to the falls today?"

I nodded as I watched the smallest kid get thrown into the giant leave pile, "If Katie hadn't canceled on me, I never would have had the guts to even talk to Matt, much less tell him that I liked him. After Matt came up to me in the coffee shop, I saw you and Katie. You both really have to work on your disguises, or at least don't use hair colors and piercings that you both want," I laughed and looked at Nathaniel who looked like he was about to cry.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, wrapping my arms around his waist and scooting closer to him. I put my head against his chest as I felt drops fall onto my head. I looked up at him and used my hand to wipe away his tears, "I can't help if you don't talk to me."

"I can't let go..." he said weakly and looked down at me.

"What do you mean? You can't let go of Alexa or someone else?" I asked confused as I continued wiping away his tears.

"I can't let her go. I've tried to end it, avoid her, not talk to her, but I just can't get her out of my head. I can't look at something she likes without thinking of her, I can't go to my favorite places without thinking of her. I can't look at other girls without thinking of the similarities between the two. I can't let her go, I've tried everything," he said, his voice cracking every now and then. He leaned against me as I sat up. I brushed my fingers through his hair gently, comforting him the best way I could.

"Maybe she's the one you're meant to be with. Not just now, but for like... Ever," Nathaniel chuckled lightly at my loss for words. "Maybe that's how you find out you're in love with her. It makes sense and eventually, the longer you're together, you'll be able to do all the things you listed but without thinking of her every single time and that's okay. Time does a lot of things to people, and sometimes it sucks, and other times it does amazing things, like when I met you. It was one of the best moments of my life and look where we are today.  We're chillin' on my backstep just hanging out, nothing romantic or lustful about it. Just as friends who like to hang out with each other."

I felt Nathaniel nod, and I wrapped my arms around him as I rested my head on top of his, "I want you to know that you are my best friend and I love you. I'll always be here if things go south with whoever 'she' is." I kissed the top of his head before he stood up. He helped me up and pulled me into a hug before I took off his sweatshirt, handing it back to him and heading inside with him following behind me.
