Homework sucks. It's literally the worst thing besides oral presentations. I don't want to do school outside of school, like, no thank you! But heaven forbid that someone has a social life on the weekend!

I was sitting on my bed with my back against the wall, and my World Literature textbook open across my legs, propped up by my feet, pencil in one hand and notebook in the other. Essay questions are the worst questions besides math word problems. Essay questions are open-ended and have no absolute right answer. They are actually the worst questions to exist.

Melody was downstairs baking cookies with Harry while Kari and I did our homework. When I came home with the adorable brunette yesterday, Harry immediately fell in love with her. Kari was a little weary at first but fell for the little girl as well. After I had put Melody to sleep that night, Harry sat me down and talked through how big of a commitment I was making being only seventeen and adopting a child. I told him about her past, and he understood that I meant well, but he still warned me regardless.

I finished my final essay question and closed my textbook and sliding it back into my backpack. I got off my bed and stretched out before going downstairs to the kitchen. Harry had Melody around his neck as he stirred a pot of water which I was assuming had pasta in it since it was getting close to dinner time.

"Are you having fun with Uncle Harry, princess?" I asked Melody when she turned her head to look at me. She nodded and layed her head on top of Harry's, "Are you getting sleepy, baby?" Melody nodded once again and reached her left arm out to me.

I walked over and pulled her into my arms, her arms finding my neck and her legs finding my waist as I held my arms under her like a seat. I gently kissed her cheek as I walked into the living room with her. I sat down and moved Melody, so she was sitting on my lap. I turned on some cartoons for her, and we watched tv until supper was ready. Harry had made spaghetti for supper, and we had a family dinner for the first time in only God knows how long.

"Momma, where's daddy?" Melody asked as I was putting her to bed. I had a mini freak out not sure who she was calling daddy, "I want him to tuck me in too."

"Who's Daddy?"

"The boy who played with me! He was really nice."

"Nathaniel? The boy with black hair?" Melody nodded and smiled her toothy grin. I smiled and my heart swelled at the thought of him being her daddy. "Daddy is at his house. Don't worry, princess, we'll be with daddy soon. I promise, okay?" Melody gently nodded and stood up on Kari's bed to hug me.

"Goodnight, Melody," I kissed her forehead.

"Mommy, can you sing me a song?" A smile crept onto my face, and I sat on the edge of the bed as I asked her what song, "I don't know, a sleepy one."

"Okay, Mel," I took a second to think of a song and decided on You Are My Sunshine. I quietly started to sing the first verse as I watched her eyelids fall closed and her breathing slow to steady deep breaths. I slowly stood up and turned off the lamp but left the nightlight on. I walked out of Kari's bedroom, closing the door behind me.

"Harry?" I asked as I walked into his room seeing him working at his desk, he replied with a dull 'hmm,' "Can I have your full attention? I have an important question to ask."

Harry put his forefinger up signaling for me to wait a moment for him to finish whatever he was doing. He finally put his pencil down after what seemed like forever and turned giving me his full, undivided attention, "Yes, my darling sister, what do you need?"

"Having Melody here doesn't seem ideal because we only have three bedrooms and we both know that if I share with Kari, we'll either kill each other or take turns throwing each other out the window. Neither of which are ideal. So Matt had brought up the idea that Nathaniel, Katie, Matt, and I all get an apartment together and have Nathaniel be our "guardian" until we turn eighteen so we can get our own. So, once we make sure it's okay with Nathaniel, would I be able to live with them?" I nervously asked as Harry's smile that was on his face was now completely gone.

He was silent for a few moments before he spoke, "Who is going to pay for that big of an apartment?" he was going to say something else, but he decided against it.

"We were going to split it between us all, utilities and groceries as well. It may be a bit difficult with each other at first since a few of us are messier than others, but we can work it out. Please, Harry? If for any reason it isn't working out for Melody or me, I'll move back home A.S.A.P.," I pleaded, "I'll visit at the very least once a week and ideally every day."

Harry pinched the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger and took a deep breath, thinking. Harry didn't speak for what felt like forever.

"Here's the deal, I don't know this Matt kid. I know you two are friends because you talk about him a lot. I just want to meet him and get to know him because you have a history of not choosing the best guy friends," I winced as Harry brought up the past once again.

I was pinned up against the school building, Eric's lustful, piercing blue eyes tearing holes in my soul. One of his giant hands holding both my wrists above my head and his muscular body pressing me up against the wall as his mouth was attached to my neck leaving painful marks for later. His other hand was working its way into my pants as tears streamed down my face and I clawed at his hands. Something was poking my inner thigh as I was struggling to get away, undoubtedly ripping the back of my shirt against the school wall. His fingers found their way inside me, and once they did, he quickly changed from the wall to the ground, still making sure I couldn't get away.

He removed his fingers from me and inserted his manhood forcefully. I let out a scream of pain as he let out a deep grunt and began thrusting. Moans, grunts, and offensive words flowed out of his mouth as pleas and cries for him to stop escaped mine, still struggling to break free from his strong hold on me. I heard someone coming around the corner and screamed for help. The said person quickly reacted and sent a punch to the side of Eric's head causing him to release me. I quickly scrambled behind my savior's legs, tears still flowing down my face as I curled myself into a ball. I heard grunts of pain and words of anger coming from both people's mouths.

I felt someone place their hand on my back and I jumped away looking at who it was. An unfamiliar yet kind face looked me in the eyes instead of at my exposed body. They wrapped the blanket they had around me and helped me stand up. They turned the other way as I struggled to put my clothes back on. Once I was done, they helped me walk to their car so they could take me to the hospital. "I'm Matt, by the way," he said once we were at the hospital.

Harry's arms were wrapped around my small figure as tears were running down my face much like they were that day.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to trigger you. You're okay, he's locked away, he can't get you," Harry tried to soothe me with kind words and calming phrases. Once I calmed down, Harry looked me in the eyes, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I know you didn't mean to," I let out a shaky breath, "I'll have Matt come over for dinner, how's that?" I tried to smile.

"That works just fine." Harry placed a gentle kiss to my forehead and pulled me into his embrace once again.
