I wake up in a cold sweat, hyperventilating. "It's just a dream Marianne, it's just a dream." A few seconds later, after I controlled my breathing, I checked my clock. "Six thirty-six," I murmured to myself, yawning. My eyes flew open as I realized that I was going to miss the bus! I ran to get my school clothes on, brush my teeth, and pin my hair up in the bun it is usually in all at the same time. After I attempted that. I walked up to my parents and cried, "Why didn't you wake me up!" "We thought you needed the sleep, sweetie. Besides it's your birthday and your dad wants to take you to school." i halted in my tracks. i walked over to the calendar. Today was my birthday. i had completely forgotten. I must have been so caught up in my school work to even notice. #FACEPALM. my mother started to take out my hair and redo it.
"Sweetie, you need to relax," she said with an extravagant wave of her hand.
"But how mom. With those rats around I can't even think straight! How on Earth am I supposed to relax! I have state testing today, its my 15th birthday, and I have to keep up with various other things! By the way where are they?"
"Don't worry-"
"Surprise! Happy Birthday Auntie Marianne!"
There goes my peace and quiet. i grumble just so i can hear as i head back to my room to actually think about my attire. my room is decorated with surfboards and a hidden bookshelf. i pull on a pair of slightly worn jeans and a t-shirt that says real heros don't wear capes, they wear dog tags in honor of my brother, who died in war a year ago.
