The four men thought about how to go about it. It was clear that there was a lot of space to explore. Should they look in old buildings, new buildings or libraries? Gwen looked at the map application on his smartphone, then around, sighing. Tragedy snapped his fingers.
— Man sees auras. He saw something when he entered the university.
The man nodded hesitantly.
— Are you sure it's not an optical effect?
Tragedy smiled fondly and lifted his chin to search his eyes. Gwen pursed his lips and blushed at the intimacy of the gesture. He blushed even more when he felt Misery's arm around his hips. Tragedy continued, as if he were alone with his Partner.
— Trust yourself. Look with your other eyes.
— H...How should I do this?
Tragedy slowly brought his hands up to his face, pressing with his thumbs under Man's eyes who swallowed his saliva without taking his eyes off him.
— Breathe and let go. I'm here to hold you.
Gwen looked away. The two men were so close they could kiss. Misery smiled and blew on Gwen's ear and he let out a high-pitched squeal as he pressed his hand against it. Misery smiled even more.
— Get used to it. I think my brother will do anything to win him over.
Gwen grunted but let Misery hold him tighter to his side. He looked at Man who had his eyes closed and was breathing deeply. The psychic was relaxing and when he opened his eyes, Gwen had the sensation of a rainbow prism swirling in them. Man let out an "Oh" as he looked at the world in amazement.
— There are...like...clouds of light...they're everywhere.
Tragedy nodded as he took both his hands.
— There's magic all around us. You see the magic, the aura of magic. Every colour is a different magic.
Man looked around in wonder.
— Blue...blue...pink, and green...But how do we know which magic is which colour?
Gwen shrugged and walked towards the first building.
— So see.
Misery followed suit, grumbling.
— I remind you that the witch is not with us and that we are weak.
Gwen laughed heartily.
— Humans are not weak. You see us as weak, that's all.
The first building was a long string of grey plastered walls.... It rippled with blue and they soon discovered that this was the magic of talismans. Pink was for divination and green for Wiccans. The cabal was tinged with a darker blue... and it was the copper colour that resonated for alchemy. It took them almost a day to find the Alchemists' hideout. It was surprisingly in one of the oldest buildings. Three storeys high and made of red brick, it was elegant and stylish and above all renovated. There were no filthy underground passages, no libraries with dusty old books, no secret doors, but a brand new lab on the third floor of a wing of the building proudly called "Chimya". This place had been difficult to find because it was inside a building protected by talismans. So the magic of the talismans hid the slightest trace of alchemy. They had time to discuss what alchemy was. It was, in fact, improved chemistry. That is to say, there was a bit of the In-Between World to activate the various experiments. The big question was how mere academics could access the Between Worlds. Gwen learned that there was a parallel market for connoisseurs, and any product could be bought at a premium. Ah, money will always make the world go round... Another question was raised: What kills a creature in the human world does not necessarily kill it in the netherworld. In the human world, Creatures were subject to human beliefs. To kill a werewolf, for example, you needed money... but did that powder work in the netherworld too?
