They had made love as if it were the last thing they did. They had taken the time to ride the passion, to discover each other as if it were the first time. Their bodies had merged, their souls and their hearts too. Yet it tasted like despair as if they were mourning the loss of each other. For the first time in his life, Griffin had offered everything without asking for anything in return. He was sure that passing the screen would be the last thing he would do... yet he would do it, for love of Misery. He opened his eyes in the white world. This world he already knew. For him it was his old prison. Griffin looked down at his hands and felt a visceral fear. He was in his old body. He spun around to try to get a feel for his surroundings, quickly, with fear in his stomach, but everything was white. Then mirrors appeared.

— Damn!

The two rows of mirrors stretched on forever.

— Where the hell am I?!

— Griffin?

The demon gasped and turned hastily to the voice.

— Gwen?

The human and the demon looked at each other. There was a complex mixture of relief, joy, anger, jealousy, sadness...

— What are you doing here?

Griffin shook his head, his tail thumping rapidly behind him.

— I don't know... Is this a dream?

Gwen smiled.

— Yes and no.

Then without warning, Gwen hugged Griffin despite the demon's size. The human's arms wrapped around the demon's waist as he laid his cheek on his stomach. Griffin hesitated before returning the embrace. The bond between them pulsed and tightened. Gwen finally released him with a sigh. He looked up at the sky and grabbed his wrists and squeezed.

— We don't have much time, Griffin. I have to tell you several important things before you leave. You must warn the others. Murmur is very dangerous. He's Myghal's brother. He is the reason you have been kept in my body for ten years. He needed you as a bargaining chip. The powder... the powder he asked Myghal for in exchange for your return. I don't know why he needs this weapon but he's dangerous! When you return to Earth, be very careful. He must be taken out of harm's way and interrogated.

— Murmur was the one who helped me escape and he protected me when he sealed me inside you.

— Ask yourself why. Not out of altruism. You know better than to trust him. He's the one who sent Johann to extract you, even if it was me. Why else would the weave room be empty of guards? You know that, don't you? Tell me you don't trust him, Griffin. He's... he's as bad as Myghal! Did you question Johan?

Griffin shook his head.

— He's gone mad. He's dying.

— Do it! Interrogate the kid.

The light began to flicker. Gwen gritted his teeth.

— We're running out of time. Look, I don't know if... if you're going to come looking for me but there's a female Cerberus trapped and a baby and a human. Get them out of there if you can. The equinox is when the Earth and the In—Between are synchronised. You must save them, you hear me! Myghal will soon have a human body that can travel from one world to the other without suffering the ravages of time or chimera. If he can, maybe that will allow you to be saved.

A shadow passed over them. Gwen gripped Griffin's wrists tighter.

— Take care of Misery. Protect him. I know you can do it. He needs you. Go, now, before they come.
