The first thing Y/n saw when the darkness subsided was a face. It was a boy's face, he looked about 17. His expression was hard set. He had undercut black hair and piercing blue eyes. As Y/n looked down his body she could see that he was wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to show a tattoo on his forearm of a crow drinking from a chalice. He wore dark pants held up by suspenders and grasped an extravagant crow head cane with hands clothed in black leather gloves. All and all he was quite pleasant to look at, other than the malice that shone from his eyes.
"I found you wet, bleeding, passed out on the floor of my club, wearing a kefta. Explain yourself." Y/n opened her mouth to speak but she really didn't know what so say, that she created a person with her bare hands, passed out and woke up on a boat, kidnapped and sailing to Ketterdam, that she escaped, crashed a ship, and stumbled her way to the club?
"I-ah- well"
"Oh, leave her alone Kaz, she just woke up. Besides why would we want to scare off a pretty face like that?" Y/n was taken aback. The voice came from another boy, slouching in the corner of the room. He had dark skin and was wearing a truly fabulous waistcoat, but the most noticeable thing about him was the two pearl handled pistols that hung loosely from his slender hips.
"What's your name?" Kaz demanded, ignoring his well-dressed friend in to corner.
"Y/n"
"Okay then Y/n, why are you here and why are you..." He looked her up and down, his gaze dragging over her body.
"...Wet." Y/n felt warmth creeping up her neck.
"I went swimming." Kaz raised an eyebrow, his curiosity clearly peaked.
"In Ketterdam?" He questioned.
"Yes, In the true sea." Kaz let out a long exhale before turning on his heal and exiting the room, leaving Y/n with the dark-skinned boy. He strode over too her and began to untie her hands. It was only now that she realised that she was actually attached to the chair she was sitting on. There was something about the boy, Kaz that made her completely oblivious to the world around her.
"So, how long have you been in Ketterdam for? I can tell you're not from around here." The voice snapped her back to the present.
"Uhm what time is it?" The boy pulled a pocket watch from his waistcoat.
"About midnight."
"Ok then about six hours." He helped her up, as soon as she put weight on her legs, her knees buckled underneath her and she fell to the ground. She suddenly felt very cold, despite the humid warmth of Ketterdam. She was still as Kaz had put it, wet. From her dip in the ocean. Y/n began to shiver. The boy knelt down in front of her. It was only then that she remembered to be scared, these people had tied her up after all. She scrambled backward, smacking into the chair. The boy looked pitiful.
"It's ok love, we won't hurt you. Well, I won't hurt you, I make no promises for Kaz. My name is Jessper. Come on I'll get you some dry clothes." He held out his hand for her. She grabbed it, but hesitantly. She did need dry clothes, and this was the best offer she was going to get for now.
Jessper lead her to a small bedroom on the second floor of the building. It had one single bad and a large cupboard pushed up against a wall. The room was painted a pleasant light blue with a large window covering almost all of one wall. Another door in the room lead to a private bathroom, completed with a shower. It was a lovely bedroom. Jessper opened the cupboard, revealing many wonderful outfits that look like they had been made for comfort hanging in all shades of blue and aqua.
"So, I'll leave you too it then, Kaz will be waiting for you in his office at dawn. I would tread lightly if I were you, he tends to be snappy in the mornings."
"And at night." Muttered Y/n
"And at mid-day, actually snappy is his default setting." Jessper shut the door behind him with a tip of his hat, leaving Y/n alone in her room for the night. She hurried over to the bathroom and stripped down before stepping into the bathtub, it had already been filled with scalding water prior to her arrival. She scrubbed every inch of her bruised body trying to get rid of the reminders the day had left her with. She finally dragged herself to the wardrobe after the water had begun to cool. She slid on a short dressing gown and slipped in between the sheets. The combinations of the soft silk and the day she just had sending her to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
