Getting to know you

Jack pov
I was making a sandwich when my phone started ringing
Jack: hello?
Kelly: hello it's kelly
Jack: hi
Kelly: Thomas wants to get to know you
Jack: that that's great
Kelly: yeah have you got time now?
Jack: yeah sure
The line went quiet for a few seconds
??: hello
Jack: hey it's Jack
Thomas: hi
Jack: how are you?
Thomas: I'm good you?
Jack: I'm alright. So what do you like to do?
Thomas: I like playing sports
Jack: really what sports?
Thomas: I'll play anything. But I prefer soccer, basketball, baseball and boxing. I also do tumbling.
Jack: wow so you really are the athlete
Thomas: yeah uncle Kelly got me into sports. He said it would give me something to channel my energy. You like sports?
Jack: yeah I used to play ice hockey when I was younger. It was fun and I was kinda good at it.
Thomas: that's cool
Jack: how's school?
Thomas: I got suspended for 2 weeks
Jack: what did you do?
Thomas: I didn't take my medication and it normally calms me down and makes me less hyper. Because I didn't take it I was very hyper and I basically accidentally threw my pen at the teacher.
Jack: and you got suspended for just that?
Thomas: I swore at a student, teacher and the principal.
Jack: that explains it
Thomas: it wasn't my best moment
Jack: is there anything you want to ask me?
Thomas: what was you like at my age?
Jack: erm I got into my fair share of trouble. I was in and out of foster homes
Thomas: your a foster kid?
Jack: yeah I am.
Thomas: did your always want to be a firefighter?
Jack: yeah ever since I was young. The family I was with our house burned down. My brother and parents were still in there so I ran in but only managed to get my brother out.
Thomas: what's it like being a firefighter?
Jack: it's good being able to help and save lives. I know your uncle probably feels the same. What do you want to be when your older?
Thomas: I don't know maybe a firefighter or a paramedic
Jack: that's cool. Did you have a good weekend?
Thomas: Not really I was in the hospital
Jack: what happened?
Thomas: I had 4 seizures in one day and my medication to stop it didn't work so I was taken to the hospital
Jack: seizures?
Thomas: yeah I have erm epilepsy
Jack: wow okay. So what grade are you in?
Thomas: er 6th
Jack: so you got one more year till high school? You looking forward to it?
Thomas: only the sports
Jack: fair enough. Remember the academics is just as important.
Andy: Gibson!
Jack: hey I've got to go but it was nice talking to you Thomas
Thomas: you too jack
Jack: I'll call tomorrow?
Thomas: that's cool bye
Jack: see ya
I ended the call
Andy: you look stressed
Jack: had my first conversation with my kid
Andy: how'd it go?
Jack: it was nice. He's a nice kid. He's a little troublemaker too
Andy: sounds like someone I know
Jack: haha
Andy: right we need to go chief is here
Jack: ah shit

Thomas pov
Kelly: how do you think that went?
Thomas: good. Jack seems like a nice guy
Kelly: yeah he is. I'm happy for you kiddo
Thomas: I'm mad that mom kept us from each other. I thought that he chose to leave me. I thought that something was wrong with me. That im the reason people leave
Kelly: hey at least you know the truth now
Thomas: I guess. I just need to process it
Kelly: I know it's a lot.
Thomas: can I meet him?
Kelly: at some point. But not yet. I think you should FaceTime and keep calling each other. Get to know each other better then we can talk about visits
Thomas: that's cool. I don't want to go back to school
Kelly: why?
Thomas: it's too much. I really do try but I can't do it. They don't help me. They're all against me.
Kelly: well after your suspension we have a meeting so we'll ask for their help then. That reminds me you have to write a letter of apology to mr mead
Thomas: but it was an accident
Kelly: then write that.
Thomas: might as well write it now then
Kelly: write it then I'll read it

I got some paper from the table and kelly chucked me a pen.
Thomas: I don't know how to start it
Kelly: just start it by saying your sorry
Thomas: but I'm not. I didn't mean to do it
Kelly: it doesn't matter if you meant it or not. You still have to apologise
Thomas: fine
Im soree I ges. I dibn't meen to lonch a qen at yuo. I was havin a tuf tim conecntraing anb was figeting wiv my pen. I was just mesin adout wiv my qen anb it flu. It wasn't on perpus.
I took the letter and showed Kelly
Thomas: here
Kelly: that's good. Go get your bag so I can put it in
I went upstairs to get my bag but ended up playing with Lego. After about half an hour my name was being called
Kelly: Thomas!
I remembered I had to take my bag downstairs. I picked up my bag and ran downstairs
Kiara: Tommy take ages
Kelly: what took you so long?
Thomas: I got distracted
I gave him my bag and he put the letter in my bag.
Kelly: we're gonna order pizza.
Kiara: yay pizza
The pizza arrived and we ate then went to bed
