Kelly pov
I should have listened to Shay. She thought that he needed to be brought in and I told her to wait. If I listened maybe it wouldn't be this bad. I punched the wall before walking out of the hospital. I walked to the alibi and sat down
V: what can I get for you Kelly?
Kelly: bottle of whiskey
V: tough day?
Kelly: yep
V: You wanna talk about it?
Kelly: nope just wanna drink until I can't think straight
V: is that a good idea?
Kelly: yep
I just sat there drinking

Shay pov
I sat in Thomas' room talking to Connor and Nat
Connor: there's not much we can do at this stage but wait. We're gonna place him in a medically induced coma which will allow his body to heal and recover. We'll move him to the PICU but it will be in the side room.
Shay: okay
They moved him upstairs to the ICU.
Nat: we're gonna keep him in for at least a week
Shay: what is this gonna mean for him?
Nat: knowing Thomas I believe his seizures may get worse and learning and behavioural difficulties will become prominent.

I got my phone out and rang Jay
Jay: hello?
Shay: hey are you okay to have Kiara tonight?
Jay: yeah of course. Is everything okay?
Shay: erm is Thomas. He's in med with meningitis
Jay: shit. How are you doing?
Shay: im okay. It's kelly im worried about. He's gone off. He's beating himself up about it.
Jay: what happened?
Shay: he thinks this is his fault for not listening when I said that Thomas should go to med
Jay: you want me to get someone to look for him? Hank maybe?
Shay: erm would you be able to get in contact with Benny?
Jay: I could try.
Shay: thanks Jay
Jay: ring me if there's any changes okay
Shay: of course

Jay pov
Kiara came running in
Kiara: am I going home now?
Jay: we're gonna have a sleepover
Kiara: yayyyy. Is Tommy coming too?
Jay: not tonight kiddo
Kiara: okay
Jay: you wanna go and find a game to play?
She ran off and I called Benny
Benny: hello?
Jay: hi it's Jay. I'm just wondering if you've heard from Kelly?
Benny: not since last Wednesday. Why? Has something happened?
Jay: erm Thomas is in med and Kelly's taking it badly. We can't get through to him it goes straight to voicemail. Shays worried about him
Benny: I think I know where he is. I'll talk to him
Jay: thanks

Benny pov
I knew where Kelly was. He goes to the cabin when he needs space. He's done so ever since he was a kid. I pulled up to the cabin and Kelly was on a bench drinking. I walked over to him and sat down
Benny: what's going on Kel?
Kelly: he could die because of me? I'm no better than Zara dad
Benny: talk me through what happened?
Kelly: he's got meningitis and sepsis. His brain is swelling and he's in a coma
Benny: how is this your fault?
Kelly: Shay told me he needed to got to med and I played it off. I said he's be fine. I thought he'd be fine. Maybe if i got him to the hospital he wouldn't now be in a coma
I put my hand on his shoulder.
Kelly: I don't know what to do pops. I put it down as just a stomach bug and now he's seriously ill. If I had listened to Shay he wouldn't be this sick
Benny: son listen to me you weren't to know. What were his symptoms?
Kelly: he had muscle aches, headache, temperature and he was throwing up
Benny: I would have thought that was a stomach bug too. Hell you was like that every time you had a stomach bug Zara too.
Kelly: but I should've known
Benny: kelly stop being so hard on yourself
Kelly: I don't know how to fix this dad. This is probably gonna affect him for the rest of his life. He was supposed to have a better life with me
Benny: he does have a better life with you son. You would do anything for him. Hell you would even kill for him. Come on let me get you home
I helped him to the car and i drove him home. The ride was quiet but kelly was bitting his nails and bouncing his leg
Benny: Kelly
Kelly: hmm
Benny: this wasn't your fault
Kelly: just take me home
Benny: kelly
Kelly: take me home
