Speed walking away from any visible people, Corin turns multiple corners of the academy before making sure he's alone, as he looks down at his scroll.
Corin: "Tch, thought I was done with them..."
Mustering himself to answer back, he lifts the scroll to his ear as he runs a hand through his hair.
Corin: "Hello, Dad."
His father, Lukas Garrison, speaks back, with a low noise in the background slightly muffling his voice.
Lukas: "Hello son."
Corin: "What do you want?"
Lukas: "An old man can't just check on his boy?"
Corin: "If you wanted to, you could've been here in no time flat to at least watch the team formation ceremony. So out with it."
Lukas: "Son...I know we had said some...bad things to you before you left. And I--"
At this, Corin scoffs, but tries to hold back from getting any louder.
Corin: "Wha-bad things?! Are you serious? Are you actually serious right now?! You realize how much pressure you and mom put on me?! I was barely even in my preteens when you started training me. I tried so hard every day with my practice, but no no no. It was always, 'Corin, you're doing this wrong', or 'How haven't you achieved this yet'. My best was just never enough for you, was it?"
For a moment, his father was silent on the phone, and a sigh could be heard. He was irritating the man, and Corin honestly didn't mind annoying him. It was the least he could do.
Lukas: "I'm sorry you couldn't handle our high standards, but we didn't truly mean any of what we said."
Corin: "You keep talking about 'we', but where even is Mom, huh?"
Lukas: "Sorry, she's...rather busy at the moment."
Corin: "Oh, I get it. Going from helicopter mom, to being no where in sight nowadays? Wasn't that the exact same thing you told me weeks ago?"
Lukas: "Okay, how about this? When we're both able to, we will book a flight to Vale and come visit you at Beacon."
Corin: "And have everyone gush over you two and make you have to sign all their autographs? Might as well stay wherever you are. Don't tell me when you arrive. Maybe that way I'll forget about it."
Not letting him say another word, Corin hangs up on his father, huffing before leaning against the wall and rubbing his forehead.
Corin: "Why...couldn't I have just been a normal kid with a normal family?"
He thinks to himself for a moment, before shaking his head and mentally pumping himself up for the remaining parts of the day.
Corin: (I think some reading sounds nice right about now.)
The light-haired brunette heads back to his team's dorm, deciding to get some time to himself.
(Location: Team CBLT's Dorm)
Now arriving at their door, Corin opens up and finds no one inside. Counting his lucky stars, he heads over to his bed, taking one of the books he had brought out from one of his drawers. While he does so, the door to their bathroom opens up, momentarily scaring Corin who thought he was alone. Lilian walks out of the room, in only a towel, looking as if she just finished drying off from a shower. Corin found himself looking at her with an agape mouth, blown away by her beauty. The way her dark brown hair looked so luscious going over her shoulder stunned the boy. Her fair skin radiated under the light, her long legs bare to witness. All the while Corin was feeling like a moth attracted to a lamp at night. Lilian closes the door behind her, adjusting her hair when she stops in her tracks, finally noticing her leader sitting at his bed. The two end up staring at each other, sand-brown and violet eyes widening, before Corin forces his head away with a blush.
