A New Dawn (completed)

Chapter 24

Four months later:

It's Bentley's birthday today, and tomorrow night is the ceremony to make Tate and I  the Alpha and Luna of the pack. Everything has been going smoothly, and by that I mean no rouges.

Liam and Maya are expecting their first pup any day now. I can't wait for a baby to be born. Bentley and Ryder have gotten closer, and he slept over last night. He was only allowed to because Tate wanted her to be happy for her birthday.

I jump out of bed causing Tate to spring up out of bed too. "What's wrong?!" He asks alarmed. I laugh at him.

"Nothing is wrong. Now let's make Bentley breakfast and let her eat it in bed. Oh we should make some for Ryder too." I say opening the door and racing downstairs. I just get to the kitchen when arms wrapped around my waist. I squeal as he lifts me off the ground.

Tate kisses my cheek and I grin as he puts me on the counter. "Remind me not to eat off of there." Evelyn says walking into the room. Oh yeah her and Tyler have gotten closer, and are fully mated. What she doesn't like is the whole he wants kids right now thing.

"Don't worry nothing like that will happen." Tate says chuckling. I know he is thinking about it because I can see it in my head. I slap his head and he laughs getting out pans.

"It's not funny. You have a dirty mind." I scold. I hop off and join Evelyn at the table. I sit across from her and she frowns at me. "What's wrong?" I ask her. She shrugs her shoulders letting out a frustrating sigh.

"He still keeps asking about having kids, and I mean like he really wants them now. Me I don't want them yet." I nod my head understanding her problem. "I mean I would love to have little ones running around, but we always said we would try having kids at the same time." She says, and then of course Tyler walks in straight over to Evelyn.

"Good morning sunshine." He says kissing her cheek. "You too Maci." I roll my eyes at him. Yes we have gotten closer, and somehow along with each other. That's only because Evelyn is my best friend, so naturally we have to get along with each other's mates.

She has gotten along with Tate too, which I am happy with. "So, what are we talking about?" He asks sitting next to Evelyn. I look at her and then to Tyler.

"Don't be pushing her." I say, and he holds his hands up in surrender. I look to Evelyn. "You do what you want. Don't think I want you to wait for me." She nods her head understanding.

"Maci!" I'm engulfed in a hug from Trent. Who it's sad to say still hasn't found his mate.

"Trent let me go." I say breathless as his grip on me is so tight. He doesn't hear me and lifts me off the ground.

"Trent put her down!" Tate growls loudly. Trent puts me down laughing out a sorry. I roll my eyes at him walking back over to Tate. Who is done with Bentley's and Ryder's breakfast.

"I'll make them chocolate milk." I say getting two glasses.

After getting the food and drinks on a tray we tip toe to Bentley's room. I open the door a crack and they are in her bed together. His arms are around her as her head is on his chest.

Luckily he is on top of the covers and she is underneath. I debate wether I should let Tate in or not. He opens the door though and we shout happy birthday. They both jump away eyes freezing on us.

I have a smile on my face and Bentley smiles widely too. Ryder looks kind of scared, but he smiles at Bentley. "Happy birthday princess." Tate says bringing the tray over to them.

"Thank you daddy, and mommy." She smiles widely, and hugs Tate. The smile on his face says it all. We couldn't ask for a better daughter, even if she isn't biologically ours.

"No problem baby. Enjoy your breakfast you two." I say kissing her head. I take Tate's hand and walk out the room.

"She's growing up too fast." Tate groans as we walk down stairs. I laugh at him.

"Hey, she will always be our little Bentley." I say leaning against his shoulder.

"I have to go over some stuff with my dad." Tate shrugs. He looks at me with guilty eyes.

"Tate it's fine I'll just go on a walk." I say. He looks at me his eyes growing dark.

"Not alone." He growls. I'm shocked by this side of him and jump back whimpering.

"No, I'll go with someone." I say frightened. His eyes soften a little from me being frightened.

"I'm sorry I scared you." He says as we reach the kitchen again.

"I'm good don't worry. I'll just take Evelyn since all you guys have things to do." I say looking at Evelyn as she is giggling at Tyler.

I always thought that I would kill him. He was always a jerk who cared only about himself. He thought he was the best, but now everything is all about Evelyn.

"Tyler get the guys my father wants to meet with us." Tate orders. Tyler obeys with a sigh pecking Evelyn's lips before leaving the room. "Maci we should be done in a few hours at most. I love you." Tate says planting a kiss on my lips.

I feel myself blush as he kisses me. He pulls back smiling at me. "I love you too." I say, and peck his lips. "Now go or your father will get mad." I say giving him a little push. He chuckles but leaves to his meeting. I look to Evelyn who is wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"Want to go on a walk?" I ask her. She nods and we head out towards the woods. We get there and just walk down the path that has been warn into the ground.

"So, how has Tate been with Ryder?" Evelyn asks breaking the silence.

"He's not totally okay with it, but it's not like he wants to kill him- anymore." I sigh. Evelyn chuckles.

"I miss this." She sighs.

"What?"

"This. How we can just talk." She says putting an arm around my shoulders.

"I miss it too." I say leaning my head on her arm.

"Well isn't this sweet." An all too formiliar voice chuckles amused. We both freeze where we are. Staring straight ahead into the shadows, where the voice came from.

'Holden.'

'What?'

'Come to the woods I need you. We have some unwanted guests. Get some of the border patrols too.'

'Should I get Tate?' He asks trying to keep his cool.

'No. He's in an important meeting, and make sure someone is keeping Bentley in the house.' I say my Luna side kicking in.

"What do you want Sam?" I spit out through clenched teeth.
