Chapter 19

It's been a week since the dinner, and everyone gets along with Tate now. My dad finally approves of us being together. Lacey left to go to Axle's pack, and she left yesterday. Tate comes by and visits, which Bentley enjoys.

Everything has been fine, with no more attacks. Adam and Lilly are watching Bentley right now, so Tate and I could hang out. "What are you thinking about?" Tate asks me as he kisses my temple. I feel myself blush, and turn my head to look at him.

"Actually I was wondering..." I say trailing off, and he looks worried. "You have met my parents, so when can I meet yours?" I ask, and he raises an eyebrow at me.

"Really, you want to meet them?" He asks surprised, and I nod my head. "Well in that case let's go." He says standing up from the ground. He gives me his hand, and I take it.

"Shouldn't we bring Bentley?" I ask, and he shakes his head.

"No, let them meet you first." He says. I nod my head, and we walk to his territory. As we get closer I get scared, and move closer to Tate. He puts his arm around me as we kept walking until we are stopped. A big traditional gray wolf stands there next to a rusty colored wolf.

They notice Tate and bow their heads at him, but look at me with narrow eyes. Suddenly they snap their heads to Tate before trotting away. "Sorry about that." He says looking at me.

"Don't worry I get it. To them I am still an enemy." I sigh as we get out of the woods part. We walk up to a large house, and I feel a chill go through me.

"Don't be scared. I won't let anyone hurt you." He promises in my ear. I nod my head as we get closer, and the door opens.

"Tate!" A middle aged women shouts excited. She runs over to us and hugs Tate awkwardly as he still has an arm around me.

"Hi mom, um can you let go now." He says, and I chuckle. She releases him and looks to me. I can see he looks more like his father, other than the eyes. His mother's eyes are the same blue color as Tate's.

"You must be Maci." She says grinning at me. I nod my head smiling back. "I'm happy to finally meet you. Tate talks about you so much." She says, and I glance to Tate who is slightly blushing. She hugs me taking me by surprise, but I hug her back releasing my hold on Tate.

"It's nice to meet you too." I say when she let's me go.

"Well come inside lunch is almost ready." She says turning to the house and motioning for us to follow. Tate takes my hand as we follow his mother into the house. The closer you get the more potent the smell of food is, along with their pack's scent.

The house on the inside looks like it should be in a house magazine. We walk into a dinning room to see Parker at the head of the table. Trent, Paul, Tyler, and Liam were also there. I sit next to Liam, with Tate on my right.

"Maci." They all say as I sit down.

"Hey guys. Alpha Parker." I say, and Parker gives me a genuine smile.

"So Maci, Liam will be my Beta, Trent third in command, Tyler top fighter, and Paul top tracker. Just so you know why they are around so damn much." Tate says. The guys roll their eyes, and I chuckle.

"So, when are you moving in?" Parker asks. I feel the room grow tense as I snap my head to Parker.

"Um... we haven't talked about it?" I say in barely a whisper.

"Oh, Tate I need to talk to you. It's urgent pack business." Parker say bitterly as he stands up. Tate reluctantly gets up turning to me.

"I'll be right back. Liam watch her." He orders before following his father out. I sigh, and look at the guys.

"Well that's not going to end well. Maci why don't we go out, and walk around?" Liam asks. I nod my head, and stand up following him. All the guys follow us, and I roll my eyes.

"So what is it about? Is he going to say I'm not good enough? That we should be running the pack by now?" I ask kicking a rock.

"Maci," Liam says, and I look at him stopping him from finishing his sentence.

"What? I don't get this whole mate stuff either. Other than mates are inseparable, but how? The bond we have isn't that strong." I say, and the guys look at me confused. "I've only been a wolf for two years, and no one ever explained mates to me. All I know is how I feel towards Tate."

"Maci, we will explain it to you. Come on." Liam says taking my hand and pulling me along.

We get to a fallen tree in the woods and sit there. "Okay well finding your mate is nice and all, but that doesn't mean that much to others. Your mate needs to mark you, and it strengthens the bond along with letting others know who you belong to." Liam explains.

"Since the bond is strengthened you can feel each other's emotions." Paul adds.

"But after you are marked... um..." Trent trails off and I look at him confused.

"Just spit it out." I say wanting to know what he was going to say.

"Sometime in the two weeks after you..." He still couldn't finish.

"You go into a heat like state, and that lasts for a good week." My eyes widen, and I feel my cheeks heat up. "It will only feel better when you are near your mate. If you're not then you get a bad burning feeling in your body." Tyler says.

"Wait, why do I go into heat after I'm marked?" I ask then realize it was probably a stupid question.

"You go into a heat like state because you want to go all the way through the mating process. In other words-"

"I get it!" I nearly shout cutting him off. He chuckles.

"You won't get pregnant until your actual first heat cycle. I've heard that after a month or two it starts. Maya didn't go until two months after. It will not go for the whole week if you two fully mate." Liam clears up.

"Yeah, but that means you have to be careful when you want to... stop it. It is said to burn the core, but with you being rare it might be worse. If you want to stop it, but don't want pups running around use protection. That's for when you actually go into heat." Tyler says, and I look away knowing my face is red from embarrassment.

"Wait, why is it strange I haven't moved in or we haven't done that yet?" I ask facing them.

"Maci, male wolves have a hard time controlling themselves. Especially alphas." Liam says. I nod my head understanding.

"That's weird though... we still haven't kissed yet." I whisper to myself. I see their jaws drop looking at me wide eyed.

"Are you kidding?" Trent asks. I shake my head. "Damn he must have some control."

"Who knows he might just be staying back, knowing when they kiss he won't be able to stop."

"Hey! I'm right here!" I shout, and they stop.
