"Did you guys even talk?" Stella asks as she and I sit at the table eating dinner "No, only when we read our scenes together, it was so awkward," I say putting the palms of my hands over my face
"You guys can't ignore each other," Stella says before taking a bite of her pasta "We aren't ignoring each other... we just aren't talking in person," I shrug before taking a sip of my water
"Thea, you like him, it's clear that he likes you now, but you're too afraid to talk to him?" Stella says tilting her head and giving me the 'really bitch' look "Maybe he was just gonna kiss me for fun," I say and she stares at me in disbelief
"Althea Parker Elisabeth Grey, you're stupid," She says with a straight face "What? no, I'm not," I say defensively "Jack is practically in love with you, you should hear all the things he says to Jamie about you," She says leaning back in her chair
"Doesn't mean anything," I say shaking my head "Why won't you let yourself be happy?" She asks and I look up at her and shrug "Because I already know how this is gonna end, Jack will find someone better, they always do,"
"Sometimes I want to punch you. When are you going to realize that not everyone is like Chris? You even said it yourself that you know Jack isn't like that but here you are doubting the fact that he likes you," She says sincerely and I just look at her
"I've said it once before and I'll say it again, if I don't put myself in the position to be treated that way again then I won't get hurt," I say before finishing the rest of my food
"Thea, you have to allow yourself to live life and fall in love," Stella says as she follows me into the kitchen where I'm putting my dirty dishes "I just don't want to feel that pain again so I won't even attempt to put myself through that," I say before Stella puts her dishes in the sink as well
"just talk to Jack, tell him how you feel, and then make the decision to swear off love for the rest of your life," Stella says before walking away and I just stand in the kitchen looking at where she used to stand
