Lucy sighed as she finally agreed to Natsu's begging. "Fine, we're going on a job."

Natsu jumped in glee, "Yosh! Let's go now!" He grinned as he held a poster, "I got the perfect job for us!"

Lucy raised a brow as she took the poster in her hands, "This sounds good." She nodded. It was a fairly easy job. They just needed to beat up a bunch of thugs that were making trouble at Hargeon.

"I know right!!" Natsu grinned as he crossed his arms.

"Let's go tomorrow. It's nearly sunset anyway." She said as she handed him the poster back.

The pinkette frowned, "Tomorrow? Ugh, fine." Although visibly disappointed at not leaving right away, Natsu was quick to bounce back as he joined another guild fight.

Lucy shuddered at the boys, "Animals."

---

Lucy pursed her lips as she arrived at her apartment. She was able to found the quaint place with Levy's help last week. The rent was a little high, but Master Makarov was kind enough to lend her a few jewels in the meantime.

"Tadaima." She muttered out of habit. Even after all these years, she could still hear her mother's voice. Her human mother, Layla Heartfilia, was the one who introduced her to Frostdine and her other surrogate parent, Helios, the Celestial God.

As she sat down on her desk, she took a few sheets of paper and a pen for her to write on. For the past years, she had been writing to her mother, in hopes that Layla would tell her that it was time for her to come home.

Giving out a soft sigh, Lucy tried to cheer herself up as she started to write her letter.

Layla Heartfilia smiled at her young daughter with Helios standing behind her. "She's gifted, I must say." Helios said.

Layle hummed, "Like I said. The family magic in her is strong, Helios. Or else, you wouldn't have taught her anything." She replied with a soft smile as she watched Lucy play with Capricorn.

Helios snorted, "Only a fool cannot see the promise she holds." He said before he began to disappear once more, "Do not waste the time I've spent on her, Heartfilia."

Layla nodded even without Helios in her presence anymore. "Lucy, come here." She called out to her daughter.

Lucy giggled as she jumped up and down towards her, "What is it, Mama?"

"It's time for you to go visit another friend of mine."

---

Back then, she never really understood why Helios was teaching her, nor why her mother sent her to Frostdine. But, she believed in her mother and would do anything for her.

Lucy smiled as she reorganized her papers. Her letter was done and she was ready to send it out tomorrow.

Dear Mama,

How are you? You haven't replied to my previous letter, but I assume you must be busy running the manor and everything.

Anyways, I'm here at Magnolia and I joined Fairy Tail. Frostdine suddenly disappeared last July 7, she left me at the mountain without saying a word or telling me where she went. But, that's okay! I'm sure she went on somewhere important, Frostdine would never leave me behind!

I'm going on a job tomorrow, as a mage. Just like you did before, Mama. I hope I can make you proud :) Wish me luck and that I don't kill Natsu, an annoying fire dragon slayer.

Stay safe, Mama! I'll see you soon! I love you :)

                                             Your beloved star,

                                                            Lucy

Satisfied, she placed the letter inside a scented envelope with an engraved Heartfilia crest on.
