The forecast said it was gonna be sunny. Yet the clouds from the west said otherwise, though that didn't stop Remote from going to work. Thankfully it was only drizzling in the morning, and Remote easily walked to work. But the more paperwork she signed, typed out, printed, and gave, the louder the pattering against the window became. It didn't bother Remote as much, especially because of the fact that she was inside before it got worse. She'll just have to rush home at this point. And once the time came, she prepared herself and her umbrella before opening the door and quickly rushing outside. She rushed home with the splash of a puddle she didn't see beforehand, and her socks starting to soak up the water that got in her shoe.
"Mew." Remote perks up at the sound, almost tripling on her shoes trying to stop herself. She looks around confused.
"Mew..." she heard the noise again. However, it sounded more cold and depressed.
Looking back, she finds a box towards the front of a house she passed. Remote walked over towards the closed box, covering it with her umbrella before unveiling what was inside.
Out came endless sounds of whining and meows, scaring Remote for a second before realization. She looks down at the load of kittens in the box confused. Why would someone leave a box of kittens in a box on the side of the road too? Remote had too many questions in her mind, but the pressure of the rain intensifies, giving her a single choice.
Leave the kittens, or take them.
The clock was ticking. The hems of her pants started to soak the puddle beneath her shoes as Remote looks at the kittens with a sad look.
If she decides to take the kittens in then Liy would get upset at her. But if she leaves these poor kittens in the rain then they'll get sick.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What are you asking?" Asked Liy across from Remote's phone.
"I asked if it'd be fine to bring these kittens in. They're just out in the open and I don't want them to get sick...if I don't they might get sick and die. That's not preventing death on my part." Begged Remote. The person facetiming Remote hums before sighing.
"Alright. Get here quickly, the forecast said that there'll be a possibility of a flash flood. " Remote smiles at the phone.
"Thank you! I'll be there soon." Remote responds before hanging up. She looks at the kittens with a smile on her face.
"Alright. Let's get you guys in some warmth." Remote heaves up the box, keeping it beneath her umbrella that was nearly about to fall out of her hands. With the thought of keeping these kittens safe, she contentfully walks back home quickly. Once she got home, she places the kittens on the ground to unlock the door. Midway through she was met with her lover at the door with a stern look in her eyes. Remote looks up at her with a sheepish look. Liy sighs before looking down at the in front of Remote's feet.
One of the curious kittens peeked out of the box, mewing cutely as if it was talking to Liy. Liy widens her eyes a little, looking at the kitten with adoring eyes. She picks up the box and smiles.
"Hey there, little guy." She said. This alerted the other kittens, as one by one their ears twitched as their heads turned towards the girl. Liy giggles at the cute action.
"Aww hehe!" Remote looks at the love of her life before her, a smile making its way to her face. Liy looks so pretty whenever she's happy.
Liy notices Remote's look and clears her throat before replacing her smile with a monotone look.
"We'll take them in only for a week, ok?" Liy states. Remote rolls her eyes as she nods.

In the end, the two never did give away the kittens. They all grew up to be cats. They gave most away, but kept one. One that stood out to them. This cat named Steer was the best kitten back then and one of the best cats they thankfully took in and kept. She became an official pet when they took her to the vet. Liy was petting Steer on the living room couch with Remote leaning on her shoulder one morning. They were currently watching the news as it jumps into a sudden murder case to the forecast of the week.
"This week Wednesday, we will be hacing somelight showers in the morning and later on some heavy rain starting from the afternoon and ending near midnight." The two were silent that time. The tension between them was awkward but in a good way.
"You're not gonna pick up some cats on the way home, right?" Liy attempted at a strict voice, but ended up sassy-sounding. Remote laughs at the remark, causing Liy to laugh as well.
