TORI KNOCKED ON ISABEL'S door at seven the next morning. "bonjour," isabel rubbed her eyes as she opened the door to her pr manager, who was dressed a lot more sophisticated somehow at this hour of the morning. isabel had quickly gotten dressed into black denim shorts and her team's shirt in comparison to tori's grey skirt and white blouse. "you're up early."

stepping into the hotel room, tori made her way over to the table that was in the lounge room area. "you've got a busy morning," she shrugged as she set her things down, "gotta be up early."

it was wednesday, and wednesdays meant everything pre-race. interviews, press conferences . . . all the things that isabel despised. she was originally meant to fly in on monday so that she could relax a bit more before all this would take place, but the weather had been awful and therefore flights had to be cancelled.

"alright," isabel sighed as she sat in the chair across the table from her manager. "who do i have the pleasure of gracing with my presence."

"there's this journalist wanting to do an article about how the different teams feel before race weekend starts," tori opened up her laptop to scan through her emails. "his name's jyrah, and he's asked for you specifically."

isabel's eyebrows furrowed, "and you let him do that?"

"nope," tori shook, "you'd only get painted worse if you refused," her stare then narrowed, "but i swear to god, belle, if you fuck this up—"

"will it just be me there?" isabel cut her off, clasping her hands in front of her on the table.

"yes, but other drivers will be around."

"then it'll go fine," isabel tried to assure her manager, but after so long of disappointing her, she had no clue who tori could even trust that. "even if i get asked fucked up questions, i'll try my absolute hardest not to say anything stupid. okay?"

tori attempted to look pleased but she had had this exact same conversation with the girl before. "i hope you'll stick to that," she withheld a sigh. "your career is resting on your behaviour. i get it, people can suck, but you need to learn that being explosive will just make all these comments worse."

isabel leaned back in her chair, her head lolling until her eyes were resting on the ceiling. she knew all this, she'd been told a million times by both alicia and tori, but the second she was up in front of the public eye and couldn't handle something, her mouth moved before her brain did. it had been something that developed during her early teen years when she took karting a lot more seriously, which was a surprise to her family because isabel had always been the perfect child. she didn't argue back, she didn't get involved when her brothers would start arguing . . . but that was all different now.
