– Chapter 13
I can't help but love you
Even though I try not to
I can't help but want you
I know that I'd die without you
I can't help but be wrong in the dark'Cause I'm overcome in this war of hearts
I can't help but want oceans to part
'Cause I'm overcome in this war of hearts
– War of heart by Ruelle
“ Come now girl, we have no time to lose,” Baghra Said, holding a torch in her hand.
Mal noticed the look of his sister's lost expression and then he took on a softer approach.
"It's alright, she's helping us," Mal told his hesitant sister. He held out Milene’s hand."Follow me. I promise it's safe. You trust me don’t you?” Alina said
Milene glanced back at the war room one last time, hoping that Aleksander would enter and tell her what in the world was going on, but of course he was not there.
She decided to trust Mal and Alina, and so she joined the girl and the woman in the doorway behind her cabinet.
“What is this? Where are we going?”
“Quiet.” the older woman coldly said.
Instead of turning right and heading toward the main staircase, Baghra dragged the three of them, Milene, Alina and Mal behind her in the opposite direction to the other end of the hall. She pressed a panel in the wall, and a hidden door swung open. She gave her a shove.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Baghra stepped in front of both of them and led them down a cramped hallway with bare stone floors and plain wooden walls. It looked almost naked compared to the rest of the Little Palace, and Milene thought they might be in the servants’ quarters.
Baghra grabbed hold of her wrist again and tugged her into a dark, empty chamber. She lit a single candle, locked and bolted the door, then crossed the room and reached up on her tiptoes to draw and close the curtain on the tiny basement window. The room was sparsely furnished with a narrow bed, a simple chair, and a washbasin.
“Here,” she said, shoving a pile of clothes at them. “Put these on. And for you boy “ Baghra said Holding a bow for Mal
Alina quickly put the clothes on, Mal just stood there holding the bow, examining it. but not Milene…This is to confusing,
“ The least you could do is explain to me what is happening?
“There is no time to explai . You must leave this place. Tonight.”
Milene blinked. “What are you talking about?”
“Baghra, You need to tell her what's going on” Alina said, "The reason we’re here is because The Darkling is close to finding the Morozova’s stag.We don’t have much time. Soon he will have the stag.”
“ i thought the Morozova’s stag is a legend” Milene said,
confusingly
Baghra waved her arm as if brushing away her words. “That’s what I told him. I hoped that he might give up the stag’s pursuit if he thought it was nothing but a peasant tale. But once he has it, nothing will be able to stop him.”
“ He almost ended your brother’s life”
“ There is no way that Aleksander would do such things like that, he-
“ Well he lied” Baghra cut Milene off. “ He wanted the stag for his own need, the power that is held will be for the sun summoner to take, but at his command. He intends to expand it and make the fold his weapon.”
“ No, Milene stammered “ He would not, he said it for the better good”
“ Did he?” Baghra mocked, “ He distracts you with the thought of having a soulmate, of the future he made you dream of, but is it what you want? The world that is filled with a dark future?
Milene froze, “ No” “ No!”
Baghra softened her gaze “ Child, you may be his soulmate but will you bear the weight of his sin?”
“ But how did you know all this”
“ Look at me closely “ Baghra said, suddenly all the surroundings turned dark
“ You- Milene was shocked “ Your his mother?”
She sighs, “ My son tried creating his own armies by using merzort. He did not think of the people who lived there, what power would do to them. It turned them to something twisted, evil that are residents in the fold”
“ Which is why we have to stop him,” Alina said, finishing her preparation. “ Come with us Mil, Mal already knows where it is. We only have to find the stag quickly before him”.
Oh how the saint loves to make her choose….

“ Milene, there you are” The general said, at first he thought she had left, or worse captured. At least she was in his room
“ Aleks, i'm sorry that i left the room, i was really bored so i thought i come into your room” Milene said nervously “ i hope you don’t mind”
The man walked toward her and held her waist. “ i don’t mind love”
As they stood in his bedroom, the air was thick with desire.
Aleksander couldn't take his eyes off of her, the way her hair cascaded down her back and her curves hugged her dress in all the right places.
Without a word, he caressed her cheek, his hands reaching out to pull her closer.
She met his gaze, her heart racing with anticipation, as his lips crashed down onto hers in a hungry kiss.
He pulled her tight against his body, his hands roaming over her curves as she tangled her fingers in his hair.
They moved together, their bodies pressed against each other, as the kiss grew more intense with each passing moment.
She moaned into his mouth as he trailed kisses down her neck, sending shivers down her spine. His hands roamed lower, gripping her hips as he pulled her even closer.
Finally, they broke apart, their breaths ragged as they gazed into each other's eyes. In that moment, they both knew that this was just the beginning of a wild and passionate night together.
And hopefully enough time for Mal and Alina to escape
