Ramses
Everyone who did that to her, is dead, and anyone who does anything as ugly to her in the future, will be dead. And in the same respect, without any riches beside them, so they cannot enter a happy afterlife.
She's sleeping in the hospital bed. I woke up in the chair and have been sitting here since.
I suppose all she really wants right now, above all, is to go home. And I couldn't possibly stop her.
A government official enters the room suddenly. I stand up, annoyed that he's come in here. He could've woken her up.
"Your majesty," he says in a whisper as I approach him and stand outside with him.
"What's the matter?" I ask.
"There's a man outside the palace, causing hysteria, shouting about your cold ways, he says you killed 20 men, for a peasant girl."
He looks at me almost in accusation.
I sigh and resist the urge to slap the expression off of him. "Please ready a horse for me, in the back gardens, I'll be there in an hour."
"Where are you planning to go?" He inquires just as I walk back into the room where Paloma sleeps.
"You don't need to know."
***
I wake up Paloma as softly as I can.
"Paloma...we have to go."
She looks at me with sleepy eyes.
"Why? Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you home."
"What?"
PalomaI don't know what's going on, I'm half asleep and Ramses picks me up gently, and carries me in his arms, out of the room. I drift in and out of sleep as he carries me, I see glimpses of his jaw and his big arms.
"Ramses," I whisper, holding onto his chest, although I'm not sure he heard me "Ramses."
"It's okay Paloma, you can sleep." He whispers, and the exhaustion takes over me, and I feel warm in his arms.
***
I wake up leaning on Ramses's back, with some material wrapping myself onto him, so that I don't fall off of the back of the horse.
I reach round to his stomach and unwrap it gently, he jolts at my touch.
I stretch my back, and lean on him again and his body relaxes.
I don't need to ask where he's taking me. I know this path like the back of my hand, I know this view, he's taking me home.
***
"What made you do this?" I ask.
We're sat by the Nile, the horse drank some water and is now tied to a tree in the shade. Everything is so much more full of life because of this rain. Everything is green and vibrant, and the air is beautiful and clear. And the Nile is full.
