~ Week of Wedding / Wedding Day ~

--

It had been a month since we were in Austin, and the wedding was now a week away.

.

.

A week.

.

.

Robbie and Rion were on their way to LA after just finishing their Vegas residency, and I was lost in what felt like every thought I've ever had.

"Sis?" A voice to my right said, half-pulling me away from my thoughts as we both sat on the large couch in my LA living room. "You good?"

"Mhmm." I nodded with a fake smile.

"You know, you're a shit liar." MK said with a soft grin. "What's going on?"

I sat back and blindly reached out to grab her hand, spinning the rings she wore on her fingers at pretty much all times. "Do you like Robbie?"

"What do you mean?" She asked as my eyes stayed trained on the spinning ceiling fan above us.

"I mean, it's a simple question. Do you like Robbie?"

"Okay, miss snappy." She responded as I tilted my head to give her an apologetic look.

"Sorry, it's just... I have a lot on my mind."

"Robbie is okay." She answered truthfully, making my eyes narrow at her response. "What? Did you want me to lie?"

"I mean, the only reason I know him is because you set us up?" I said with an ironic chuckle.

"That doesn't mean I can predict the future." She said, mirroring my small laugh. "I just thought you two would get along, and I think you did for a while. Then, things got weird."

"Because of Rion?" I asked. I had been in constant communication with my sisters about everything that has been going on since I found Rion in our kitchen all those months ago. It seems like a fever dream, now, but I have been very much awake the entire time.

"No, Elizabeth." She said with a soft glare. "It's been weird way before Rion. I think you're just starting to realize it, though."

"Really?"

"Are you kidding me? You are one of the smartest people I know but sometimes..." She said as she trailed off, waving her hand in the air, making me flick her off with a certain middle finger, not phased at all by my unsavory gesture. "What do you have against being happy?"

Well, that wasn't a question I was expecting. Sitting back on the couch, I retracted my hand that was finding comfort in my older sister and let out a humorless chuckle by forcefully blowing air out of my nostrils.

"Wow." I whispered.

"Don't do that. Don't shut down."

"Well, what do you expect, MK? That was rude!"

"It was, but it was a valid question."

"I don't have anything against being happy, dumb-ass."

"Then why are you so unhappy all of the time, dumb-ass? Your relationship with Robbie started off great. He was the perfect guy. Doting, loving, attentive. Then, Milo Greene got a bit bigger, and he got more attention, and he started to change. Then you got massively bigger, and he saw the way your bank account kept growing and growing."
