"Hoy! 'Yung notebook mo!" Ynnia shouted at me. Tumakbo ako pabalik sa upuan namin, I grabbed it from her hand, "Thank you," I waved my notebook at her. "Be careful, Liberty!" I heard her shout when I was near the door. Our prof extended the class so we were dismissed almost an hour later than usual. I couldn't just leave the class, plus I was intently focused on the topic.
I was sort of running through the hallway trying to see if Aelius was there, baka kasi nag hihintay na siya. I stopped to catch my breath and also checked my phone, "Fuck! Lowbat pa!" I grunted while rapidly pressing my phone's button. Bad timing!
"Galit ka nanaman," I heard Aelius' soft voice, I looked at where it was coming from. He was sitting on the chair near the staircase, it was a bit far from my room a while ago. He stood up and brushed off the hair that was falling on my face, "Kanina ka pa?" I asked him still breathless. "Hmm, it's fine." He was still fixing my hair, he took his handkerchief from his pocket. "My last class was canceled," He was wiping my sweat, pero mas lalo lang ata akong pinagpapawisan sa ginagawa niya. "I did some of my requirements while waiting, my time wasn't wasted." He continued and pointed at the chair, his laptop and some of his memo pads were out.
We were both looking at his things but I noticed that he was staring at me already. I looked at him and then he gave me a smile that showed his whiskers dimple, "Tara?" He asked breaking our gaze.
I nodded and he got my bag from me, I followed his steps.
"Dito ka nga," He was frowning as he lightly pulled me so I was now beside the wall, we were going down the stairs, and I noticed that there were people on the lower flight of the staircase. I didn't resist if it makes him more comfortable.
He unlocked his car and as I was getting in, I saw him take a deep breath and shake his hand secretly, when he got inside his car, his face was back to it's usual look. I knew that something bothered him but what was it?
"Are you good?" I faced him while he was starting the car and checking the rearview and side mirror, he always does that for safety daw. "Wag ka muna mag drive if you don't feel okay," I told him dahil ayun ang bilin ng Papa ko sakin, don't drive with a foggy mind. And I don't think we're in a rush.
"Wala 'yun," He replied to me, mukhang okay naman na siya, he wasn't tensed. Humugot siya ng malalim na hinga, "I was just bothered with those guys on the lower floor earlier," His hand let go of the steering wheel, "Tingin kasi ng tingin sa taas, kaya pinagilid kita." He was now looking at me. I looked at what I was wearing. Kaya pala– I was wearing a skirt that was inches below my knees but it had a slit.
"Sorry, 'di naman ako sayo–" Bakit ba siya nag so-sorry? I raised my index finger to my lips, "I know that you're not mad at me," Sinubukan kong habulin ang mga mata niya. Aelius has always been like this, he avoids eye contact when he's not the one in control of the conversation. That's the only time he can't hold a stare.
"'Di ka galit?"
"Bakit ako magagalit? You did what you think was right, you followed your instinct," I was explaining to him, I didn't see the guys looking that's why I couldn't judge but based on Aelius' reaction, I was thankful that he did what he did.
"So, ano? Are we going? Gutom na ako," Pag susungit ko jokingly when I saw that his mood was lightened up.
We ended up getting food from drive-thru after going to the gasoline station, we were driving– Jai was driving for a little over 30 minutes and I still have no clue kung saan ba kami papunta. This guy really likes being spontaneous which makes us different. I can't bare not knowing what will happen, it makes my anxiety go over the roof.
