DOMINIC

".. You were in there a while, pretty boy."

I glanced up at Alistair, with his iPad in hand, as I shut the door behind me.

"So what? I'm her bodyguard," I clicked my tongue. ".. and you just turned the corner waiting for me to leave, Mr. Hughes? I thought Miss Roselyn had a job for you?"

"She did, Dominic," Alistair huffed— yeah he really hated the 'Mr. Hughes' shit. "and I found something which is why I'm back only to find you.. just leaving her office," He glanced down at his iPad. ".. after fifteen minutes."

I pressed my lips together in a firm line, "Miss Roselyn is about to make some calls— I'm sure what you have is good but I doubt she wants to be bothered right now, Alistair."

".. Good thing I was interested in talking to you about it first." He muttered under his breath just loud enough for me to hear.

I raised a brow, "Who is it? What is he involved in—"

"— Shut the hell up," Alistair hissed, nodding towards Miss Roselyn's door. ".. do you want her onto our little 'investagation' we have going on?"

I went quiet and scratched the back of my neck.

Alistair look me up and down with a quiet scoff, ".. Is she onto it, Dominic?"

"No," I blurted out quickly. ".. I just asked Miss Roselyn if she knew anything.. again, and she told me not I'm not her private detective— it was just taunting, nothing more."

"..What possessed you to do that, Dominic? You really thought she'd change her answer for you? Once Miss Sawyer sets on a story she won't switch up easy..." Alistair voice faded in my head as I began to think.

What did I think was going to happen?

Of course Roselyn and I were closer now, there was a tension between us, and she does things and says things that she doesn't with any another employee of hers— but at the end of the day I'm still her employee.
And she had a set story for her employees, so I'm included in that.

Rule three— no feelings attached.

We aren't in an relationship, which would cause her to just spill every secret to me, to spill every stressful thought— to spill what caused her to smoke her problems away.

"Hey," Alistair snapped his fingers in front of my face. ".. do you want to know or not? I garuntee Miss Sawyer won't tell you herself either once she finds out."
