2. It can't be love...right?

Ayano sits down on the roof with her friends, as she's still deep in thought. Kuu Dere, Horado Puresu, Hazu Kashibuchi, and Ayato Aishi (Ayano's brother) all looked at each other with confusion. Sure Ayano was quiet, but she would always talk about her elaborate plans to win Taro over.

Ayato decided that he'll ask. "Uh, Ayano, what's going on with you?" Ayano looked up at him. "Huh?" She asked, confused. "Y-you've been silent for 3 minutes without bringing up Taro, are you okay?" Horado asked. "I'm just thinking about stuff." She responded. "What kind of stuff?" Hazu asked. Ayano breathed in and out. "Okay, so there's this new girl named Amai Odayaka. And so far, she doesn't seem like a threat, since she's super nice to me and stuff."

Kuu looked up from her book. "So...what's the problem exactly?" She asked. Ayano shook her head. "That is the problem guys! She compliments me, hugs me, and laughs with me. Why do I feel weird when she does these things?" She asks, frustrated. The 4 look at eachother, giving a knowing smile to her (besides Kuu). Ayato laughs. "What's so funny Yat-Kun?" Ayano asked.

"Ayano, remember a year ago when you first met Taro? You're literally describing what you felt for him." He explained taking a sip of his juice box. Ayano stood up, shocked. "Are you saying that I'm in love with Amai!?" She exclaimed, disgusted that Ayato came to that conclusion. Now, Ayano didn't hate gay people, because her own brother was in fact gay. Not only that, but Hazu was trans, Horado was bisexual and Kuu...was a mystery to be honest. She just didn't like the concept of love at first sight. It took weeks for Ayano to fall in love with Taro, because she got to know him personally.

"Yeah, pretty much." Ayato responded. The rest of them nodded in agreement. Ayano shook her head. "We'll talk about this at lunch. Let's just head to class losers." She said, walking away. "Hey!" They all yelled, offended, as Ayano laughed.

As Ayano walked to class, which was Gym, she started to wonder if Ayato was right. "He can't be right. I can't fall in love with her. I have my senpai, Taro. We're destined to be together...right." She said quietly to herself. She then tripped down the stairs because she didn't pay attention. The bullies recorded her falling and walked away laughing. "What a loser!" Musume Ronshaku exclaimed, to which the rest of her posse giggled. Ayano rolled her eyes and she dusted herself off and walked away.

She saw Amai walking around, confused. Ayano ran up to her and tapped her on her shoulder. Amai turned around and saw Ayano. She then let out a breath of air that she didn't know she was holding in. "I was going to meet you in class, but I got lost on the way..." She said, sighing. Ayano smiled and shrugged. "Don't worry, I got lost here on my first day. Let's head to class." She said, as Amai grabbed her hand. Ayano pulled away, out of reflex.

"Oh, sorry Ayano! I probably should have asked, huh?" Amai asked, apologizing. Ayano grabbed Amai's hand again. "No, it's fine, just a reflex of mine." She said, shaking her head. Amai smiled, nodding understandingly. The two then walked to Gym. People stared, but for some reason, Ayano didn't care. She was too focused on Amai's smile.

"Maybe I do like her."
