18. Back to School

It was a cloudy and rainy morning on Monday. Ayano groans as she wakes up to the sound of rain pattering on her window. This was the first day that she'd be going back to school after her lengthy suspension. She knows that it's gonna be a weird adjustment to all, and honestly, she's surprised that the school hasn't kicked her out yet.

The school had done this a bunch of times. Sending a student on a long suspension instead of an explosion. The main case of this was with Osoro....something. Ayano couldn't be bothered to remember her last name. All she knew was that the delinquent chick had a huge and violent fight with a rival gang from another school, leaving them bloody.

She wasn't in the school at the time, but she's heard the stories. Not like she can avoid them anyway, the delinquent boys always brag about how radiant and powerful their leader is. Big deal.

Well, at least Ayano wasn't the most feared girl at school, so that was something.

Ayano put on her uniform with a pout, obviously not happy about going back. She enjoyed her freedom and didn't want to get dirty looks from everyone. At least before this, she was seen as the school "nobody", now she's seen as the violent crazy chick.

"Just my luck." She mutters, walking out of her room.

Surprise surprise, Ayato already left and her parents were nowhere to be seen. After Ayato threatened the whole family, he's been avoiding all of them. Good for him, maybe he just needs a break. And a therapist.

Ayano simply grabs her bag and heads out the door, not bothering to say goodbye to her parents. She also didn't bother to grab an umbrella on the way out. Great.

As she walked through the cold rain, it reminded her of how cold and dark her family was. Sure, her mother and father were loving. But that doesn't change the fact that Ryoba murdered someone...It was sad, really. Their whole life would be cursed because of the stupid Aishi bloodline. But whatever, they knew that they'd end the bloodline once and for all. Now that they thought about it, they didn't mind being an Odayaka. "Ayano Odayaka." Ayano whispered to herself, smiling a bit. "Ayano Odayaka."

"Amai and Ayano Odayaka."

Yeah...she liked that.

Ayano arrived at school late, which meant that she had to get a late slip from the counselor. Great. "Miss Kunahito." Ayano poked her head inside the office, where the counselor was talking to this student. He had long pink hair. Huh.

"We've discussed this Mr. Meichi. If you keep ending up late, we're gonna have to get your father involved...tardiness everyday is unacceptable." Genka spoke, shaking her head as she handed the boy a tardy pass. The pink haired boy sighed. "I'm sorry. I know I should be here on time." He stood up, taking the pass and walking towards the door. "Excuse me." He bowed to Ayano before making his way to class.

"Oh, Ms. Aishi. Welcome back." Genka nodded to the tall girl. "Please, come in."

Ayano slowly walked into the office. "Good morning Ms. Kunahito. I'm just here to get my tardy pass." Ms Kunahito looked pleased at this. "Well it's good to see you back here after your little..."crash out" as this generation would call it."

Ayano stayed silent. They really didn't want to talk about what happened a couple of weeks ago. It was embarrassing for them.

The counselor must've noticed their reluctance. "You know...club rush is happening soon. Maybe it'll do you good if you joined a club for the time being," She started. "You could take out your...frustrations in a healthy manner." She wrote Ayano their late slip, smiling kindly.

"I'll think about it." They muttered standing up and exiting the room.

Clubs...why would she need to join a club?

It wasn't like Ayano was competitive or whatever, but still. The thought of being around people who weren't her girlfriend or best friends made her queasy.

On her way to class, she passed by the Sewing room, where she saw Hazu. Ayano smiled softly, loving to see her timid friend working in peace and quiet. She was actually gonna say hello to him, before she heard a soft giggle that didn't belong to Hazu.

"What the?"

As Ayano peaked into the room, she figured out that he wasn't alone. That pink haired boy...what was his name? Otohiko Meichi? Yeah that was it. He was talking to Hazu, giggling as Hazu's face went red.

Huh? Hazu and Otohiko. The two were alike in many aspects, having feminine behavior and having a strong distaste for their fathers. But still, them potentially having a romance was surprising, considering their nervous personalities.

As Ayano was analyzing the two, she didn't even hear Hazu clear his throat. "Hey Ayano. Long time no see." The timid boy greeted, giving her a half smile while Otohiko looked away nervously. Hm.

"Greetings." Ayano waved, walking into the room. "Yeah, it's been a while." She tried to strike up a conversation. With 3 introverts in the same room, she had to step up and try to talk to them. Besides, she wanted more information about Otohiko. Speaking of which, he pointed to her. "I really like your hair..." He mumbled.

"Oh yeah, it's different. A lot shorter than usual." Hazu commented. Ayano shrugged their shoulders. "Mhm...my wife-" Ayano paused, face red. "Uh...g-girlfriend. My girlfriend cut it for me. Yeah..."

The room went silent for a while, before Hazu cleared his throat. "Me and Otohiko, we're gonna skip the first period today and just chill in here...maybe sew a bit. Do you maybe wanna join us?" He asked, looking at the pink haired boy to make sure he was comfortable with Ayano hanging out with them. When the sleepy boy gave a thumbs up, Hazu sighed happily. "So, what do you say Yan-chan?"

Ayano thinks for a moment. She did have Amai first period today...but also she didn't want to deal with the stares of the staff and students. "Yeah sure."

Both Otohiko and Hazu smiled softly. "Good, now let's get started."
