There was an awkward silence at the table. Victoria found her eyes darting between the angels, wondering which side they each belonged to.

"Do you still eat insane amounts of food?" Gabbe eventually drawled, breaking the silence.

Victoria stalled for a moment, it was odd, having strangers know intimate things about you.

She'd always struggled with eating. Too much, rather then not enough. Despite never working out, and eating copious amounts of whatever she wanted Victoria always sported an immaculate beach body, to the great envy of others. She now realized this was another of her powers, clearly her appetite played a role in fueling them.

"Yeah, guess I don't have a fast thyroid after all." Victoria said, doing her best to smile back at her.

"Fall of Troy?! You ate an entire pig after, it was amazing!" Arriane gushed, her eyes lighting up.

Embarrassed, Victoria took to picking at her meatloaf.

A flirty giggle broke through the silence, causing Daniel's eyes to narrow as he gazed across the cafeteria, from his seat opposite Victoria. Cam had obviously said something that Lucinda found oh-so-funny, as she battered her eyelashes between giggles at him.

Victoria felt her cheeks burn angrily, watching the way Lucinda melted under Cam's gaze. Lucinda had been one of the few mortal students that had actually been nice to her since she arrived at Sword and Cross, but that didn't mean she was okay with her flirting with Cam, even if it was his job.

"Victoria if there was any other way..." Daniel spoke, his eyes locking with Victoria's.

His gaze was eerie, he had brilliant blue eyes which seemed impossibly sad. Though she barely knew him yet, he seemed to have an air of complexity about him that irked her. That, and well, his girlfriend was flirting with her boyfriend; while he sat and did nothing.

"Why him? Why not Roland? Gabbe's cute, maybe she's bi and we just don't know?" Victoria asked, in her trademark cool fashion. Further up the table, Arriane and Roland both seemed to suddenly choke on their food.

Daniel gave Victoria a thunderous glare, though she was unfazed by him.

"Because, she's never gone for them." He eventually said through gritted teeth.

"So what's your plan exactly? She falls for Cam then he breaks her heart so she forgets about you? You've honestly got no idea when it comes to women do you? It'll just make her want you more."

"Not if I leave while she's too busy with him."

"She'll just stay up all night on tinder and Instagram looking for you. It's what we do. Just get it over with."

"And kill her?"

"She's going to die anyway, better to die knowing who you are. You'll see her again in seventeen years away."

"What if she could grow old, just this once?"

"You can't play God Daniel, what about what she wants?"

"How could you possibly know anything about what she wants, you're not even Victoria, not really."

"I know that Cam's been standing behind you for the last minute, and Lucinda hasn't taken her eyes off of you."

"You're in my seat Grigori." Cam said, patting Daniel's shoulder.

There was silence as Daniel rose angrily, and Cam took his place.

"Well, after all that I'd have to say you're rather unchanged actually." Gabbe said, as Daniel sat down next her.

"I'm not... trying to make you feel bad Daniel. I just don't think your plan is going to work."
