Victoria blinked furiously, but there was no mistake. Weathervanes' eyes bore into the pair, filled with the glassy haze of womanly desire. If she recognized Victoria at all, it didn't show; but it was clear she recognized Cam.

She appeared younger somehow, her skin had a lively glow and there was a spark in her eyes that had been absent in her role as Lucinda's dorky friend at Sword and Cross.

If Victoria didn't know any better, she would have thought that Weathervanes was in love with Cam. She felt a pang of annoyance and anger burn inside, coupled with embarrassment; at how childish it was, Victoria knew she didn't have anything to worry about.

Weathervanes cheeks grew flushed as Cam's fingers brushed across her palm as he took the soap in his hand. Cam seemed oblivious to her desperate gaze, or perhaps it had become lost on him that he was impossibly good-looking and that often placed him as the object of affection.

"Who are you?" Victoria's voice broke out in the silent room, Weathervanes jumped, startled by the sound and fearful of the authority Victoria held over her.

"Me? I'm- I. . . Penny."

Her voice was quiet and her words came out in a stumbling heap that was not unlike her awkward demeanor at Sword and Cross. Victoria noticed the way Penny's eyes never quite met her own, rather they danced around the features of her face.

Cam's interest peaked at the exchange, his eyes narrowed slightly as he fixed them on the plain brunette handmaid. A small smile played across his lips now, this was no ordinary handmaid, the unmistakable aura of angelic power radiated off her, though her soul was marred.

There was a thirst in her eyes, but he was unable to discern if it was for his physical form or his angelic power. Perhaps it was both? The longer his narrowed eyes trained on her, the more he noticed the ways she failed to contain her mortal form. Her cheeks were flushed brilliantly, and her breathing ragged and unsteady, her heart raced like that of a pathetic prey animal. Cam found himself smirking at the thought.

Though the fact he was unable to place her was not amusing in the slightest. He couldn't recall this creature, from either heaven or hell. Victoria was tense, and it set him on edge, though this Penny girl didn't seem to notice their discomfort at all, and he couldn't quite shake just how uncomfortable her obliviousness to that made him.

"You can go now, girl." He said tersely, she battered her lashes in a final fleeting glance then retreated quickly to her corner like a wounded animal, her head hanging noticeably lower than the others.

Cam turned his attention back to Victoria, who he was surprised to find poised against him like a cat ready to pounce, eyes trained menacingly on Penny.

He made to stand before her gaze, so that his back faced toward Penny, obscuring her prying and trained eyes. He leaned down so he could whisper quietly in Victoria's ear, her skin prickling at the way his lips toyed against her cheek.

"Care to explain?" Cam's voice, though quiet, toyed with amusement.

Victoria pulled away and looked at him, chuckling softly as she did.

"I-I can't. . . I don't even know in my time!" She was laughing now.

"Guess we'll be finding out together then. . ." Cam cast a glance over his shoulder, and caught Penny with her head up staring at them.

She snapped it back down with force when she noticed he'd spotted her, her thrumming heart piping up once more, as a gnawing feeling began to eat away in his stomach.

A problem for another day. . .
