Daniel raised his eyebrows at Cam, as Ms Sophia turned the projector off.

"Why do I always have to be bad cop?" Cam mumbled, standing up.

"No- can't we-" Victoria began to protest, she had been hoping to immediately get back to Cam's dorm and quiz him about these dubious pacts between kisses.

"After dinner, go straight to my dorm. Daniel will drop you off. I've got work to do- I'm sorry." And just like that he was gone, quickly engaging in a serious discussion with Sophia across the room.

Maybe he's sorting out this pact business now?

Victoria desperately hoped, she'd placed so much faith and trust in Cam, in such a short time. The thought it might be ill-placed was churning her stomach to pieces.

At her side, Daniel began collecting their books, tucking them under his arm. His free arm made its way around her shoulders and Victoria gave him the best smile she could muster.

"We'll go to the library, that way there's no pressure for us to talk to each other." Daniel mumbled softly, Victoria gave him a nod and allowed herself to be wheeled away, resisting the urge to steal one last glance at Cam as she did.

From her spot across the room Lucinda Price stayed rooted to her seat while the students around her began standing and collecting books in a flurry. Her eyes were trained on the handsome blonde boy, Daniel and the way his arm wrapped around the beautiful blonde girl.

She felt awful, she couldn't quite recall her name, but she knew they dormed on the same floor. How was it that she'd been able to capture his affections so quickly? He'd barely even said two words to her! Had they already known each other?

Luce knew that the girl was nice, but that just made everything worse. Daniel was a stranger to her, yet jealously and anger surged through her body. Whoever that girl was, Luce hated her.

The library was surprisingly busy, and many of the students appeared to be doing their work, Victoria suspected this was because there really wasn't much else to do at Sword and Cross.

Daniel made a beeline for a quiet table at the back of the library, save a few kids browsing the isles for books, it was abandoned.

They each took a seat at the table and an awkward silence ensued. Victoria couldn't figure out if Daniel was being nice, suggesting they come to the library so they didn't have to talk, or if it was his way of saying 'Don't talk to me.'

She watched as he rifled through the pile of their books, and drew out a sketch book. She was unsurprised to see it was filled with different pictures of Luce. Some were simple portraits, others intimate details of her collar bone or hands; they were all drawn with a talented hand.

Finally he reached the newest image, which was barely more then wide brushes on the page. He moved to pickup his pencil, then to her surprise he shut the book and looked up at her instead.

His gaze was piercing, and Victoria found herself looking outside the window trying to escape it.

"Why Cameron?" He spoke eventually, his voice a hoarse whisper so as not to draw attention in the otherwise silent library.

Victoria turned back to face him, frowning deeply.

"Who are you, right now, that's made you pick him?"

"I don't know what you're asking me."

"I'm asking who you are, before the Victoria I know."

"I'm no one."
