Alternate Ending to close-to-each-other scene(page 465) in Book 4

Then Lockwood was beside me, pulling me to him, dragging me beside him under his cape. The softness enfolded me. The desperate cold lingered for a moment. It drew back painfully like clawed fingers being withdrawn. I could feel Lockwood's warmth against me, and mine against him. We were crouched together, his arm around me. Our faces were very close.

He looked at me with a worried expression. 'Luce. Are you all right?' He asked. 'Yeah, I think so.' I replied. 'Luce, the ghosts are approaching. We have to go.' I tried to get up but my sides suddenly felt like they had been stabbed. 'Lockwood, I don't think I can do it. I'll only slow you down. Just go without me.'

He looked at me seriously and gently brushed his lips against mine. 'We're going..regardless of what you say. We're a team, even if you don't want to be in Lockwood & Co.'

'Yeah, about that...I'm re-joining. That is if you'll have me.' I said. He broke outinto a grin. His eyes sparkled. 'Really! Of course, we'll have you. I reallymissed you Luce.' I could feel my cheeks going red so I turned away.
